Title: Romans 2:1~11 God's Principles for Judgment
◎ Introduction
: Romans 2 discusses judging, judging others, God's judgment, self-righteousness, moralists, and legalists.
1. Background: Moralist (1) 2. Perfect Justice (2~5) 3. Eternal Reward or Punishment (6~10) 4. Absolute Fairness (11~15)
1. Background: Moralist (1)
※ They are thieves and people who lead a clean life. But the reason they judge others is that they don't live the way he ought to live.
One). Moralists judge others.
※ “Judge” means to criticize, gossip, or condemn, which is a fatal flaw of moralists.
※ Attention: Anyone who judges others and puts out their own point of view becomes a moralist.
2). The moralist has no excuse and condemns himself for doing the same.
※ He fails just as the person he judged has failed (Romans 2:1, 1 Corinthians 10:13).
※ In God's eyes, sin is a matter of the heart and mind, not just actions.
Sin, whether a thought of the heart or a public act, falls short of the glory of God.
※ All people are sinners before God. Therefore, we should not judge, criticize or gossip about others. (Matthew 7:3, Romans 2:21-22, Gal 2:14, Titus 1:16)
※ Think of a time when everyone's tongue is silent. How different would the world be?
This is not to say that discipline should not be practiced in the state, in the home, in an organization, or in the church.
The Bible teaches that both justice and discipline must be administered by man.
What the Bible says is that no matter who has failed, one should not go around criticizing and gossiping with each other. Instead, we should try to reach out to each other, restore and help each other.
(Gal 6:1~2, Romans 14:1, 1 Corinthians 9:22, 1 Thessalonians 5:14, James 2:15-16, 3:10)
2. Perfect Justice (2-5)
※ “Truth” means the truth. It means something that is certain, something that actually exists, something that is sure to happen.
※ God judges according to the truth. It will be done in perfect justice according to our deeds.
One). Moralists think judgment can be avoided.
※ His sin is greater because, like all other people, he too is full of sin and falls short of the glory of God.
※ We forget that God sees the depths of the human heart and that God judges not only with our actions but also with our thoughts. (The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life: 1 John 2:15~16 )
(Matthew 23:33, Luke 12:2, John 2:25, 1 Corinthians 4:5, 1 Thessalonians 5:3, Hebrews 2:3, Num 32:23, Ecclesiastes 12:14)
2). Moralists think that God is too merciful to punish.
※ It is the fact that God's kindness leads people to repentance, not to sin.
To think that if a man goes out and commits a sin, God will overlook his sin and forgive him, he despises the mercy of God. 6:7,...)
3). Moralists believe that humans are fundamentally good.
※ They believe that God seeks goodness among human beings, and that there is enough good in each person to be acceptable to God.
i think there is But
※ What they did not realize is that God's goodness is perfect. Therefore, imperfect things, ugly feelings,
He does not tolerate bad thoughts, fallen nature, evil deeds, and sinful impulses.
※ God does not make man declare his own righteousness, but he makes him confess his imperfection and his own righteousness, and for righteousness seeks the righteousness of God in the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Romans 1:21-22, 2 Corinthians 10:12, Gal 6:3, Proverbs 20:6, 26:12, 28:26, 30:12, Isaiah 47:10, Ob verses 3-4)
4). The moralist hardens his heart against God's judgment. he refuses to repent
※ You cannot accept that (1) you are not good enough and (2) that God's goodness and love will condemn you.
※ “Righteous judgment” is to correct wrongdoing and all human unrighteousness (Luke 3:36, Romans 1:18, Ephesians 5:3-6).
3. Eternal reward or punishment (6-10)
※ Judgment “as done” will be made based on human actions.
※ The works of God appear as a result of faith.
※ What God requires is that people first believe in God and work for God (the lost world, desperately needed
toward a world in need).
※ God will reward or punish everyone according to their deeds, according to what they have done with God for God.
One). There will be a wonderful reward for those who do good.
① What he who does good seeks: he seeks glory, honor, and immortality (7)
② The way those who do good seek: sincerity in practicing good deeds
Complete the work that has been opened up. .
Living a sunny and undisturbed life.
Do not succumb to opposing difficulties or difficulties. (Gal 6:9, 2 Tim 3:14, Heb 12:1, 1 Pet 1:3, Rev 3:11)
③ The amazing reward given to those who do good: eternal life.
Eternal life can be said to be inheriting a world of glory, honor, and peace (10, 4:13).
2). There will be terrible and severe judgments on those who do evil.
①He is judged for resisting God (8) ; Take a hostile attitude toward God.
②He is judged for not obeying the truth
: I know I need to see, hear, and act, but I refuse to do it.
③ He is judged for doing injustice. (8)
3). All who do evil, Jew or Gentile, will be judged.
※ “The spirit of every man who does evil” will suffer, and the judgment will be severe and frightening.
In God's judgment, anger and wrath, tribulation and distress will be different (8).
(Matthew 25:46, Luke 3:17, 12:47, Romans 2:8, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Hebrews 10:29...)
4). Those who do good, both Jew and Gentile, will be rewarded.
※ Those who do good are immortal (7) Eternal life (7) Glory (7,10) Honor (7,10) Peace (10)
4. Absolute Fairness (11~)
※ Only the living and true God's judgment has nothing to do with people's outward appearance.
※ God's judgment will be made according to absolute fairness, and God is not partial.
No bias will be involved. God loves and cares for everyone.
