Title: Ruler of History
Contents
The main text is Genesis 1:1-5, Romans 1:20
Moses, the great leader of Israel, commanded the people of Israel in Deuteronomy 32:7 before he died at the age of 120. “Remember the past, consider the generations of the past.” Christians must know history and have a correct view of history.
1) The ancient Greeks had a circular view of history. In other words, I understood history as going round and round. It's just that history just repeats itself over and over without any purpose. This view of history is the view of history of non-believers who do not know God, and Buddhism's theory of reincarnation is also based on this view. 2) Atheistic existentialists who claim that there is no God saw history as passing by like water. History has no meaning or purpose. Although slightly different from the circular view, this view of history is also a misconception with no value. However, the Christian view of history is different.
First, the history of Christianity begins with the creation of God.
A smart person who said he had studied a bit a long time ago appeared on the air and gave a lecture. During a lecture, while raising the bar, “Everyone! History is not made by God, it is made by humans.” People who did not believe in God like the lecturer applauded. However, Christians who believe in God the Creator believe that history is made by God and man together because they see history as starting with God's creation of man. It means that history began with God creating all things and creating humans. Genesis 1:27 “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them” verse 28 “God blessed them and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” .. have dominion over all living things” The history of Christians begins with creation.
Second, Christians understand history as being shaped by God-given life and freedom.
When man came into this world, he brought nothing with him. I came empty-handed. You just have to live with what God has created for you. There are so many things God has given us, including all things, life and freedom are representative examples. Taking someone's life or oppressing their freedom is a challenge and rebellion against the God who gave them that freedom. We must value the life and freedom God has given us, and build a society where we can be happy together and serve God. We must be on the alert that the devil is at work behind extreme selfishness.
Third, the Christian view of history understands that good and evil coexist.
Fourth, the Christian view of history understands history as the history of God's redemption.
The protagonist of the history of redemption is Jesus Christ. Jesus left the glorious heavenly throne and came into this world as a human. This is the incarnation. This is where the full-fledged work of salvation begins. The culmination of salvation was the death of the cross. If you believe in Jesus who died on the cross, the Son of God, and shed His blood for me, and repent and receive forgiveness of sins, you will be saved. It is not the end of being saved, but we must work out salvation by serving God through faith in Jesus. If someone asks you about the day you were saved, you can confidently answer, “I have been saved and will receive it in the future.” 2 Corinthians 1:10 “He has delivered us from this great death, and will deliver us, and I hope that you will deliver us after this.”
Fifth, history has a beginning and therefore an end.
Just as the beginning is called creation, the end is called the end. The end began with the coming of Jesus 2,000 years ago, and now we are moving towards the end, and soon the end of the world will come. This is the coming of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. A famous theologian named Motto has this to say about living with an apocalyptic consciousness. “Yesterday Jesus came to this world and today Jesus died on the cross, so living with the consciousness that Jesus will come tomorrow is the eschatological faith.” We count thousands of years and hundreds of years, but to God, “a day is a thousand It is like a year, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3:8). As if looking at the palm of your hand, God sees the flow of history and is in control. Only those who serve God well can know history, know God, and live life right.
I pray that God, who is in charge of history, will have a right view of history so that he can guide your life more beautifully.
