Title: Rules for vows 30.hwp
No one is unaware of the importance of promises. Even if they are close people, if they frequently break their promises, their trust will be lowered, and if they break their promises, they will be distrusted. Promises are so important in human relationships. Since a vow is a promise made to God, there is a premise that it must be kept.
1. The difference between vows and vows
1) Promise (Neder) - A promise made to God voluntarily by making a promise to God in anticipation of God's special grace and for the purpose of pleasing Him.
2) Oath - To make a promise with people and make an oath with rewards and punishments depending on whether the promise is fulfilled.
3) Jesus forbade consciously vowing and swearing. (Matthew 5:33-37)
Oaths and vows must be in the spirit of truth and piety.
2. It must not be broken. (2)
If you make a vow and don't do it, it's not as good as what you didn't do. That is, we must keep our promises of moderation, including abstaining from fasting and marital relationships.
(Ecclesiastes 5:4) If you have made a vow to God, do not delay paying it; for God has no pleasure in fools, pay your vows.
(Ecclesiastes 5:5) It is better not to make a vow than to make a vow and not pay it.
(Ecclesiastes 5:6) Do not let your mouth sin in your flesh; before the lions say that my vow was a mistake.
No, how can God be angry with the voice of your words, that you destroy the work of your hands?
1) A young woman's vows must be approved by her father.
2) A married woman's vows must follow her husband's wishes.
Disruption of order is a challenge to God and disrupts the harmony of relationships.
3. It was because of a vow that Paul shaved his head in Cenchria.
Just as Jephthah, the judge, made a vow to sacrifice his daughter, everyone should honor their vows and avoid breaking them.
4. A Promise to Himself - George Williams, the founder of Y.M.C.A. was originally a cloth merchant, but in 1894
Recognized as a Christian for outstanding achievements, he was knighted by Queen Victoria.
He had three promises to himself.
1) Be sure to get out of bed before the alarm clock starts to ring and finishes.
2) Read the Bible, meditate and pray every morning
3) Do anything without breaking the day
5,. What should we make a promise to ourselves?
1) Contribute to faith - to mature faith and achieve righteousness
2) What can be practiced - Start with small and specific things
3) Something that can be proven - something that can be proven and checked during the day
Ask the Lord to help us stay true to these promises to ourselves.
