Title: Sacrifice/Leviticus 1:1-17
Contents Hymn of the Week: Chapter 43
Subject: Sacrifice / Leviticus 1:1-17
After the completion of the tabernacle at the end of Exodus, it is said that the glory of God appeared in the tabernacle. Leviticus speaks of the sacrifice offered to God through the tabernacle.
In particular, the text speaks of the sacrifice of the Lord calling Moses from the tent of meeting and offering the ox as a burnt offering.
1. It was to be offered as a male without blemish. God is perfect and holy, and he said, 'I am holy, so you are holy'.
However, man fell into sin and could not come to the Holy God, and fellowship with him was cut off. So, like the sacrifice of an ox without blemish, He opened the way for His people to come to God by relying on Jesus Christ without blemish by making Him the sacrifice once upon a time on the cross.
2. He said to lay your hands on the head of the sacrifice. This is that the offerer acknowledges that this sacrifice is being offered to make atonement for his own sins.
It means believing in God's plan and method of salvation. Here, Jeju's sacrificing means that she must thoroughly repent of her sins.
To believe in Jesus Christ is to believe in the truth of the Atonement in this way.
Here, Jeju's slaughter of sacrifices means that they must thoroughly repent of their sins.
Cutting the corners means cutting out every hidden sin and putting it back before God.
Sacrifice (Leviticus 1:10-17)
It was not easy for the poor to sacrifice cattle. So, the text tells us how to slaughter the sacrifices and how to offer them so that they can offer sacrifices to God according to the circumstances of their families as God has given them.
1. If it is a sacrifice of a sheep or a goat, “You shall offer him a male without blemish” (10). The sacrifice offered to God had to be a male without blemish.
Also, the fact that Jeju made sacrifices in the north has a religious significance.
Ezekiel 1:4 says that when God enters Jerusalem and the holy place, He will come from the north. The priest will slaughter the beast, and the priest will sprinkle the blood on all sides of the altar, leave the sacrifice on the altar fire, and wash the intestines and the flesh with water. , and made a burnt offering by burning all the offerings.
2. In the case of a bird offering. “If it is a bird’s burnt offering, it shall be a sacrifice of living pigeons or young pigeons” (14). ①. The head must be twisted and cut. This means that Jesus Christ is sacrificed on the cross. ② Li must be poured on the side of the altar.
This is the offering of the perfect sacrifice. These sacrifices are a type of Jesus Christ who was obedient to the point of death.
We, too, must think of the Lord's love and obey him to the point of death.
