Title: Sailing with the Lord
Contents
It is said that the biggest difficulty for parents who adopt and raise a child raised in an orphanage is “separation anxiety”. They say that they can't stand the situation when their adopted parents fall for a while, such as going out, and they struggle and cry every time, because they are suffering from the trauma of being abandoned by their biological parents in the past.
Therefore, it is a great blessing in life to have a companion, companion, or co-worker that we can spend our whole lives with without separation. But for us believers who believe in God, there is a greater blessing than this, and that is the fact that our Jesus will be with us forever on the voyage of our lives.
Today's text shows how that very Jesus sails with us. Look at verse 35. “That same evening he said to his disciples, “Let us cross over to the other side.”
1. He asks us to go together at sunset.
The Lord comes to us not only in normal times, but also when our lives are coming to an end, that is, not when our lives are good and prosperous, but when we do not, our health deteriorates, we lose material things, and even those who we were with turn their backs on us and leave with us. you're asking to go.
World-famous basketball star Michael Jordan once introduced a benefactor that he will never have in his lifetime. When Jordan was still an amateur, he went to the "Chicago Fluorine" team to join the professional team on his own, and no one cared for him because he was poor and unknown. said..
Just as no one can forget the person who is with us and helps us in the most difficult times of our lives, please remember that the Lord is our eternal companion regardless of any crisis in our lives.
2. There is a gale.
Verse 37 “There was a great storm, and the waves crashed into the boat and filled the boat.” It was a voyage that started with the Lord, but a storm can blow. It's also a big storm. Even if we believe in Jesus and believe in Him and try to walk the path of life, we can face any number of great problems and crises.
But that is an important time for us believers. Like the disciples at such a time, we should not just blame the Lord and tremble in fear, saying, “Teacher, do you not care that we are about to die?” Because there is something the Lord wants us to see in that very situation.
3. The Lord wants to see our faith.
Look at verse 40. “Then he said to his disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? If you do, the wind and waves will become calm in an instant' (Hebrews 11:6). Therefore, we must not forget that the storm on the voyage with the Lord is not a misfortune in our life, but a test of the Lord who evaluates the authenticity of our faith. In such a situation, when we show the faith that the Lord requires, I believe that the Lord will surely bring about a work of calming the raging wind and devouring waves (verse 39). Hallelujah!!
Dear saints!!
The grace of experiencing the miracles of the Lord and glorifying the Lord by showing the faith that the Lord wants even if there is a storm, while continuing our voyage with the Lord even in the new year of 2010, which is just around the corner May you have a blessed year in the name of the Lord.
