Saints filled with the Holy Spirit
(2009.05.31. Pentecost) (Acts 2:1~8)
The 50th day after Jesus was resurrected is often referred to as the Day of Pentecost.
Pentecost is a special day for those who believe in Jesus.
This is because the Holy Spirit came upon those who believed in Jesus on the Day of Pentecost.
That is why Pentecost is also called Pentecost.
On whom does the Holy Spirit come? And why does the Holy Spirit come upon the saints? What should a saint filled with the Holy Spirit do? - From today, the Day of Pentecost, please be faithful to your life as a saint filled with the Holy Spirit.
1. The Holy Spirit came upon the saints (1:4~5).
First of all, to whom is the phrase “receive of the Holy Spirit” addressed? I will let you know from
* “Receive the Holy Spirit” is a phrase that should be said to those who do not yet believe in Jesus.
*Please believe that those who believe in Jesus have already received the Holy Spirit.
*God is a Trinity - That is, God is the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Therefore, it does not make sense to believe in Jesus but not receive the Holy Spirit.
*The human body - bones, flesh, and blood are harmonized - If there are bones and flesh but blood does not flow, then it is not a human being.
*If you say you believe in God and believe in Jesus and you say you have not received the Holy Spirit - It is the same as saying that there are people who are made of only bones and flesh that do not flow blood.
*Do you believe in God? Do you believe in Jesus? - Then, please believe that you have received the Holy Spirit.
(1:4-5) -“They gathered together with the saints and commanded them, saying, ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise the Father has heard from me.’ John baptized with water, but after a few days you You will be baptized.”
It is the Holy Spirit that God the Father promised to send to those who believe in Jesus.
(2:4) - "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
The Holy Spirit promised by God the Father has come upon all who believe in Jesus.
I hope that everyone who believes in Jesus has already received the Holy Spirit.
2. What the Holy Spirit wants (1:8).
The Holy Spirit has a work to do. And the Holy Spirit entrusted the saints who received the Holy Spirit to do the work.
What is the Holy Spirit trying to do? What has the Holy Spirit entrusted to those who have received the Holy Spirit?
(1:8) - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power and testify of Jesus.
*What the Holy Spirit wants to do to the world is to testify of Jesus.
* The Holy Spirit came upon the saints to entrust the work of witnessing Jesus to the whole world.
*The Holy Spirit received the Holy Spirit - He also gave the power to testify of Jesus to the saints who would testify of Jesus.
*A young man who doesn't know how to shoot a gun and doesn't have a gun - called to the training camp, taught how to shoot, and gave him a gun - to defend the country.
They don't teach you how to shoot, and they don't give you guns - I'm not telling you to defend the country. - If you have the rank of Private - you already have the ability to shoot and defend the country - you have become a capable person.
Please believe that the Holy Spirit Himself also came and gave you power - to entrust you with the work of witnessing Jesus.
Please believe that those of you who believe in Jesus already have the power to testify of Jesus.
3. The mission of the saints who have received the Holy Spirit (2:4~8).
Everyone who believes in Jesus has received the Holy Spirit.
To those who have received the Holy Spirit, he has given the mission to testify of Jesus.
He also gave us the power to testify of Jesus.
If so, now we must faithfully carry out the mission given to us.
*You have already received the mission to testify of Jesus, and you have already received the power to testify for Jesus - but if you do not use that power and do not fulfill that mission - you are neglecting your duties.
*Teaching you how to shoot and giving you a gun - if you give up your gun and leave your unit - you become a deserter. - The country is a sinner.
* He is a saint who has received the Holy Spirit, and he has also received the power to preach the gospel. - If he abandons the mission of witnessing the gospel - that person - is a deserter of faith. - You are a sinner before God.
(2:4) - "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
*I was filled with the Holy Spirit, and *began to speak as the Holy Spirit had *spoken.
1) Be proud of your identity.
A farmer climbed a mountain and picked up an eagle chick and raised it with a chick. - The eagle knew that it was a chick and lived with its feet, scratching the ground and eating the feed, and withered away. - Then one day, when he saw an eagle that looked just like him flying in the sky, he finally realized that he was an eagle, not a disease.
*A believer does not know the identity of a saint and lives like an unbeliever - It is like an eagle raking the ground and eating food.
*We are saints. We are people who have received the Holy Spirit. We are people who have received the power of the Holy Spirit - I pray that you will take pride in your precious status as saints.
2) Have confidence in your mission.
He said that the Holy Spirit gave power to the saints - especially the power to testify of the gospel, the power to testify of Jesus, and the power to save people's souls. He has given you the power to overcome the devil.
*Please do not be afraid of losing to the devil. * Please do not be afraid to hear that you are ignorant while preaching the gospel.
(2:8) - “How is it that we each hear in the tongue of the place where we were born?” - Jesus' disciples were all Galileans and Jews - but when preaching the gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit - Gentiles Even though they did not learn to speak - they successfully preached the gospel to the Gentiles and each other through words.
Don't be afraid, be confident - testify of Jesus to your family, friends, and neighbors and brag about the church.
3) Have hope in the results.
(2:41) - “Those who received the word were baptized, and on that day the number of believers increased by three thousand”
There were Jews who were against Christianity, and there were people who said they believed in Jesus, but did not have true faith - when Peter, who received the Holy Spirit, testified about Jesus - They also believed in Jesus and were baptized - who also became people who received the Holy Spirit.
If you didn't know how noble you are, now you are proud that you are a noble saint,
If you have not had confidence in preaching the Gospel - From now on, know that the witness of the Gospel is your mission, believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, and preach the Gospel. Since you have received the power of the Holy Spirit, I believe that power will be revealed in the gospel you preach with the power that the Holy Spirit has given, so that you will save many people and our church will gradually revive. - As a saint who has received the Holy Spirit - I pray that you will carry out your mission well with this hope.
