Title: Saints Reaching Godliness

Title: Saints to Godliness
Bible: 1 Timothy 4:7-8
Starting Point of the Word>>
This time, we would like to share a sermon with the title of “Saints who attain to godliness.”
In the words of James 1:27, it is said about godliness:
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
In other words, godliness is to honor God with all sincerity, to keep oneself unstained by the world, and to practice love for neighbors in need.
As such, the Bible teaches the saints about godliness because it is the duty of the saints to live godly.
According to Matthew 5:14-16,
“You are the light of the world, and a town on a hill cannot be hidden. People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket, but put it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, and they See your deeds and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Says.
For us as saints to be a light in a fallen world, our lives as children of God must be godly.
If we live reverently like this, God will use that person preciously.
According to Psalm 4:3,
“Know that the LORD has chosen for himself a godly man.”
You said.
When hiring a person anywhere, choose a person with the appropriate qualifications in the field.
So is God.
The standard by which God chooses people for His glory is a godly person.
God does not look at a person's genealogy, education, or appearance, but rather on their godliness.
Today, I hope that we too will become saints who reach godliness through the Word.
Go to Word>>
So, what is the way to godliness?
First, pray.
According to Acts 10:1-2,
“There was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of an army called Italia, who was devout and feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the people, and prayed to God constantly.”
Said.
Also in Psalm 32:6,
“Everyone who is devout should take the opportunity to meet the Lord and pray to the Lord.
said
The way to godliness is through prayer.
Prayer is also a way to maintain a godly life.
Pray, but always pray like Cornelius' family.
The airway is often referred to as breathing.
Just as our bodies must always breathe, our souls must always pray.
If there is a breathing disorder, it is a red flag for health. If there is an obstruction in the airway, that is, if there is no regular prayer, it cannot but be called a red signal for the health of the soul.
When we think of prayer, it is easy to think of it as only asking for what we need.
Of course, we need to get what we need, but it's not just that.
I must pray for the strength of my heart, a godly faith.
The Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian church members, saying, “I kneel before the Father, who has given names to every tribe in heaven and on earth, according to the riches of his glory, so that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Holy Spirit. (2) through faith that Christ may be in your hearts, (3) rooted and grounded in love, and able to know with all the saints the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, in its breadth and length and height and depth. I pray that you may realize that you may be filled with all the fulness of God” (Ephesians 3:14-19).
Paul prayed not for the needs of the flesh, but for the needs of the soul.
In other words, we prayed for godly faith.
This is the wisdom of prayer.
Pray, but pray for my soul.
If you seek only what your body needs, that prayer is a prayer at the level of a child.
Pray, but pray for a godly spirit.
God is pleased with these prayers.
Second, the Word of God makes our lives reverent.
According to Titus 2:1-2,
“But you speak what is in accordance with sound doctrine, that in old men you should be temperate, devout, prudent, complete in faith, love, and perseverance.”
I did.
This is the right teaching, that is, the word of God makes our faith reverent.
Many good educations are being conducted on this land.
Starting from prenatal education, early childhood education, kindergarten education, and regular education conducted in schools, there are numerous other educations that continue.
Such training is also essential.
However, the fruits of many of these educations are limited to this world.
I only need it as long as I live in the world.
But the word of God extends not only to this world, but also to the world to come.
Therefore, godliness education according to God's Word is of utmost importance.
So in verse 8 it says,
“Physical training is of little benefit, but godliness is beneficial in all things, and there is a promise in this life and in the life to come.”
I did.
Looking at the words of 2 Timothy 3:16-17,
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
said
As such, the Word of God is the driving force that leads us to a godly life.
Therefore, we must become saints who draw near to the Word of God.
Third, we must practice ourselves to attain godliness.
If we look at verse 7,
“Only train yourself to godliness.”
You said.
The pulpit in this verse refers to the practice for playing sports.
Just as athletes become great athletes when they practice over and over again, it is also said that a godly life of faith serving God is the same.
Practice is repeating the same action over and over again.
If you keep repeating the same behavior over and over again, it will become a habit.
This is how you keep practicing godliness so that it becomes a habit.
What is godliness?
Godliness is to honor God with all sincerity, to keep oneself unstained by the world, and to practice love for those in need.
It is to keep practicing this life so that it can become ingrained in the body.
There is a novel called by Max Beer.
This is the story of Lord George Hell, an unscrupulous villain.
He showed his vileness not only in heart but also in his actions.
People were afraid just by looking at his face.
One day he fell in love with a beautiful and innocent girl named Mi-ri.
But the girl said, "You can't be the wife of a man with such a scary face!" and rejected him.
Lord George Hell, after struggling to marry her, put on the most holiest and most merciful mask in the world and proposed to Mirry.
He married her, and day after day he tried to hide his hypocrisy and be patient and generous.
He constantly suppressed his bad temper to look like a good person.
One day, an old friend mercilessly removed Lord Hell's mask in front of his beloved wife.
But strangely, when the mask was removed, a holy face appeared on it.
This story is fiction, but it teaches us a good lesson.
It means that a person will become as good as he/she has made every effort.
In fact, we lack everything.
Personality doesn't happen overnight.
Therefore, practice leading to godliness is necessary.
Jewish children learn to thank Jehovah before they get up in the morning and learn to brush their teeth.
Parents intentionally teach gratitude because children who grow up in an atmosphere of gratitude for God implicitly acquire a life of gratitude.
It's important to have a grateful heart for anything.
In particular, when Jews eat food, it is considered subhuman that they do not have a heart to thank Jehovah and their parents for the food.
This is because Jews believe that having a grateful heart leads to good deeds that can be appreciated by others.
The practice of reaching godliness is never easy.
But the fruit is very precious.
If we look at the words of verse 8,
“Physical training is of little benefit, but godliness is beneficial in all things, and there is a promise in this life and in the life to come.”
you said
If you serve God with a godly life of faith, you will receive God's love. You are being used preciously by God. In this way, a life lived for the glory of God becomes a glorious reward in the kingdom of heaven to come.
At the end of the speech>>
At this time, I ask in the name of the Lord that all of our members will make efforts to live a godly life like the above.
To that end, I hope that you will attain godliness through prayer, the Word, and practice.
The glory of God is revealed through our godly life.
God's grace comes to believers who live godly.
After this time, I pray in the name of the Lord that all of us will glorify God through godliness and become all saints living in God's great grace.
