Title: Salvation of Zion (Isaiah 62:1-2)
Content The words of this text teach the saints to be vigilant spiritually. In the text, Zion Jerusalem is of course reminiscent of the old Jerusalem, but here it is used as a symbol for the “Church of God”. It is the Messiah who speaks these words. These are all prophecies about the Messiah, and Isaiah 61 was read by Jesus in Nazareth and these words are fulfilled today. Isaiah 61:1-2 “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to set the captives free, and the prisoners They proclaim release to them, the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort the mourning." In other words, Isaiah 61 is a prophecy about the earthly life of Jesus. The next chapter of Isaiah 63 prophesies about the appearance of a warrior wearing red robes coming from Edom after treading the winepress, which means the Messiah of judgment. In other words, Isaiah 63 prophesied of Jesus who would come as the judge. Chapter 62, in the middle, is a prophecy about what the Lord will do during that time, from the ascension to His Second Coming.
