Salvation, peace, health ① (Mark 5:25~34)
Well-being is a hot topic these days. In order for us to live a truly satisfying and happy life, what must we do for true well-being? In today's text, we see a woman suffering from hemorrhage. Let's take a look at what his condition was, and how he was saved, at peace, and in good health. So, I hope that we too will live a life of true satisfaction and true happiness.
I. Suffering from illness for a long time (25)
The woman suffering from hemorrhage in the text shows that the physical pain or mental pain is unfathomable because of the long years of suffering from the disease. It is not an exaggeration to say that the woman in the text is a figure of a modern person living in the present age. In our day and age, many people are suffering from physical and spiritual diseases. Even if there are substances, more often than not, the disease cannot be cured.
Ⅱ. The doctor does not help him (26)
This woman, who feels a sense of crisis that shakes the foundations of her life and existence, clearly shows the finiteness of human beings and the limits of human effort that are universally experienced by humans. The woman with bleeding in the text found the true savior, Jesus, only when she was in a desperate situation that she could no longer handle on her own. Discovering human weaknesses and limitations is an opportunity to meet the Lord. When we realize human limitations and seek the Lord, from that moment on, God works toward us. Psalm 139:13 says, “You have made my books, and from my womb you have organized me.” God is the one who made me. The God who made me is able to heal my sick and weak parts. Man cannot do it, but God can. God is omnipotent.
Ⅲ. Hearing the Rumors of Jesus (27)
In any case, she “mixes with the crowd and comes back” to touch Jesus, an act like this that shows her boldness (desire) and humility. The hemorrhagic patient has overcome the obstacles of the law and the obstacles of custom. He had faith that he could be healed and live only when he met the Lord. Even greater, he had the belief that he could be healed by touching the hem of the Lord's robe. What are the obstacles for us to meet the Lord? What are the obstacles to faith maturity? What are the obstacles that keep us from tasting the power of God? Positive faith overcomes obstacles. Saints! I hope that we too will have faith that overcomes obstacles.
IV. Patient's Faith (28)
This woman's faith is the faith that Jesus' collar does not have the power to heal, but that just touching the collar will reveal the power because of Jesus. This is an absolute faith centered on Jesus. We, too, need simple faith, just like little children. Arguing here and there, calculating faith cannot experience the power of God. Human reason cannot fully understand the world of God. Simple, absolute faith experiences the power of God. Is there anyone who suffers spiritually and physically? Seek by faith. (Mark 9:23, James 5:15)
Ⅴ. The history of healing appears (29)
As a result of touching the clothes, the disease was cured. Jesus' clothes are not magical. Seeing the woman's faith, Jesus gave the woman the grace of healing. It proves that even with faith as small as a mustard seed, amazing works can happen.
