Old Testament
28 Samson cried out to the LORD, saying, "Remember me, O Lord GOD, please remember me, O God, please strengthen me this time, so that I may take revenge on the Philistines who have had my two eyes taken off, once and for all."
29 Samson leaned on one of the two pillars that supported the house, with his left hand and the other with his right hand.
30 Samson said, "I want to die with the Philistines." And he bowed down with all his strength, and immediately the house fell and fell over all the princes and all the people in it.
new testament
1 As a deer longs for streams, so my soul longs for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I go out and see the face of God?
3 All day long they say to me, Where is your God? My tears have been my food day and night.
4 I once walked with the people who kept the holy days and led them to the house of God with a voice of joy and thanksgiving, but now I remember this and my heart is broken.
5 Why are you discouraged, my soul, and why are you troubled within me? Put your hope in God, and I will still sing praises because he appears and helps.
6 I remember you, O my God, in the land of Jordan and in Hermon and on Mount Mizar, because my soul is discouraged within me.
7 The deep sea called to one another at the sound of your waterfalls, and all your waves and waves swept away me.
8 By day the LORD is merciful; by night his praise is with me, to the God of life.
9 I will say to God my Rock, Why have you forgotten me? Why do I walk mournfully because of the oppression of the enemy?
10 My adversaries slander me like a sword that pierces my bones, and they always say to me, Where is your God?
11 Why are you discouraged, my soul, and why are you troubled within me? Put your hope in God, and I will still praise my God because he appears and helps.
sermon
Anyone who cannot accept this common fact that everyone fails is bound to be unhappy. It is because a kind of pride that I must not fail even if everyone else fails makes that person who has failed become an eternal loser who cannot stand up again.
Samson was a person who had a lot of expectations from the beginning. Because he was born to God as a Nazarite, defeated his enemies with great force, and began to free Israel from Philistine oppression. Samson's strong arms and valor became the hope of all the Israelites.
However, Samson broke God's law several times and broke the Nazarite oath. He was dominated by lust, he confided secrets to the bad guys, and by using his talents and powers unwisely he indulged himself in weakness. His mistake irrevocably caused him to fall into the abyss, and finally he was dragged away with his eyes plucked out and turned into a millstone turned by an animal.
But God did not forsake Samson. Samson was filled with guilt, anger, helplessness, and regret, but he did not forsake God. He did not turn his back on God or give up believing, but believed in the Lord's love and forgiveness. So I repented and prayed that God would give me one last chance. God heard Samson's prayer and gave him the strength to stand up again. He exalted the name of Samson's God, overcame all shame and sin through faith, and achieved a great victory, ending a glorious end.
God touches our hearts that are bruised by failure with his gentle hands today. The reason we will not remain eternal losers is that God's hand does not leave us. Those who admit their failures will be set free from those failures, and those who seek the Lord's help will surely be refreshed and victorious.
