Title: Sanctify with salt / Exodus 30:35
Content: To sanctify with salt / Exodus 30:35
He told them to make it according to the recipe for making incense, but to make it holy with salt. In other words, it is to put salt in prayer. What does this mean? It has to do with the use of salt. We would like to think about it based on what the Bible says about salt.
1. It is the salt of the covenant.
Salting incense has a deep meaning. In Leviticus 2:13 it says, “Salt all your grain offerings, and you shall not take away from your grain offerings the salt of the covenant of your God.
This is where “the salt of the covenant” comes in. Here, the salt of the covenant compares the prayer that should have the character of the covenant. To make it according to the incense making method means to pray, but follow the law set by God, and now have a covenant of prayer.
Our prayers are meant to be prayers that deviate from the Word. It should not be a prayer that goes beyond the will of God.
It also means to hold on to the word of God and pray. It is to do it within the faithful promise of the Word. Prayer holding on to the Word has power and power
We will also have the constancy of our faith and the constancy of our vows. Prayer is not gossip. It's not a man-made ritual. Prayer is a covenant relationship between God and man.
This is the covenant God has given us. This is a precious promise our Heavenly Father has given us. Therefore, we pray before God. True God the Father, the unchanging God, the absolute God, and the eternal and unchanging covenant of God, are firmly believing and moving forward.
There are many promises in the Bible that we who believe will answer your prayers. Prayer is making a solemn covenant with us humans in the presence of the Almighty God.
2. Mark 9:50 He said, “Have salt in yourselves and be at peace with one another.”
The important role of salt in prayer is reconciliation. Reconciliation can be considered in two ways. One is reconciliation with man and the second is reconciliation with God.
First, if we are believers in prayer, we must achieve reconciliation with God. Job 22:21, “Be at peace with God, and good will come to you. You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will pay your vows.”
The prayer that pleases God is the prayer of repentance. When you come before God and call on the name of the Lord, you must first check whether God is pleased with you or not.
If God is not pleased, prayer has no power and cannot be answered. Therefore, we must examine what is at odds with God, repent of that part, ask for forgiveness, and be reconciled.
And reconciliation with people must be established. Our God calls you in peace and delights in reconciliation, and God hears the prayers of those who are reconciled.
Matthew 5:23-24 says, “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift at the altar and go first, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
Reconciliation refers to the history of change. It's a history of flavor. The characteristic of salt makes it taste good. Wherever you go, salt is a seasoning for food. No matter which group you join, you will enjoy it.
In other words, salt promotes reconciliation. Salt dissolves wherever it goes. You, believers, are salt, and wherever you go, you must be the salt that gives flavor wherever you go, whether you are sitting or moving.
To become salt, I must melt myself. When it melts, the flavor is evenly distributed.
3. The text tells us to sanctify with salt.
Salt is clean. It adds flavor to any food. Prayer is the power to sanctify oneself. As believers, you become sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Burning incense also removes very dirty and smelly things.
It also fills the surroundings with incense. When the saints fervently cling to prayer like this, the surrounding environment is purified and their souls are sanctified. That is why there is a saying that prayer produces saints.
By sprinkling the salt of the Word, the salt of reconciliation, and the salt of sanctification on our prayers, we pray that God is pleasing to us, and we pray that the saints who receive answers may become wealthy.
