Title: Saul and David (1 Samuel 26:13-16)
1. David did good to Saul David later became king of Israel. When it comes to why King David was great and why he is our ancestor, it is because God has always been in his heart. Achish king of Gath praised David, saying in 1 Samuel 29:9, “You are of a good heart, like the angel of God.” In the Bible, only King David is praised as good as an angel of God. In the Bible, the word about goodness is recorded in several places. (1) Speak good words (Proverbs 16 · 24). (2) Have good deeds (1 Peter 4:19). (3) Teach what is good (Titus 2:3). (4) Have preconceived wisdom (Proverbs 13:15). (5) Have good eyes (Proverbs 22; 9). (6) Rejoice in what is good (2 Thessalonians 1:11) (7) Be rich in good works (1 Timothy 6:18) In Luke 10, the Lord said in the parable of the good Samaritan, “In this way also do good.” . Goodness refers to giving grace to people who are weaker, weaker, ignorant, and lesser than me. David was a good-hearted man, and he was always kind to Saul, who was trying to arrest him and kill him.
3. David loved Saul Saul always sought to kill David, but David not only loved Saul, he also loved King Saul's daughter Michal, and his son Jonathan and grandson Mephibosheth. How can you love someone who wants to kill you? It is unthinkable without great faith. It's never been easy. When the Lord taught, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. If you love those who love you, what reward will you have? So do tax collectors." In this way, David was good to Saul, respected and loved him.
