Title "Save the Time" (Colossians 4:1-6)
There is a term called 'exhaustion syndrome'. In English, it is called burn-out or burn-out syndrome. It is one of the mental illnesses of modern people. I mean exhaustion, exhaustion. No examination, no machine, will show this syndrome. But it is the most terrifying serious disease. It is a disease that comes from exhaustion.
As such, burnout syndrome is a fatal disease. Because it is the cause of all diseases. Capital, knowledge, experience, and effort were all there. But what I can feel now is that I don't have time. I have a limit. First, there is a time called 'Aion'. It is a time of horizontal relationship that is given to everyone at the same time and at the same time. With the 24-hour rotation of the Earth, there is a time like this that is given equally to all of us, to all living things. Second, there is a time called 'chronos'. This is not time passing by, but time in a different sense. As a vertical concept of time, it refers to historical time from the past to the present and from the future. Events of great significance are unfolding here. There are historical events, there are historical times. Third, time is called 'kairos'. It is situational time. It is the time of the situation that takes place at the apex of which I encounter an event. In other words, it is a time of character that can be translated as time and also as opportunity. There are situations like this.
The time shown in today's text is 'kairos'. "Save the time (verse 5)" -- This verse, which is called 'ton chiron exagorazomenoi' in Greek, is translated as 'save the time' in Korean. The meaning of the word 'exagorazomenoi', translated as 'Akira', is special, and we need to think about it. This means to redeem. In English, it is expressed as 'redeem in the time'.
There are several things if you think about time separately. The first is real time---real time. Whether I know it or not, time exists. The second is physical time. This is the time it appears on the measuring instrument. It means the kind of time we count on our clocks. Even more serious is psychological time. Psychological time is different from the time you see on a watch, it can be long or short, it can be irritating or relaxing. This is very important. But, above all, there is something decisive. This is religious time. This is the time to look at your relationship with God. To put it simply, two people seem to live in the same time and in the same reality, but one person goes to hell and the other goes to heaven. Two people are in the same prison, one is in prison for sinning and the other is going to visit the one who has been in prison. They have the same shape in the field, but they are not the same. qualitatively different.
Likewise, there is a time for the saved. There is a time when we are already saved and nurtured as children of God. This is a training process. There are things we do not dislike as children of God. Lazy, wrong, indolent, deceitful, greedy, arrogant... All these things are removed by God. That is why God shapes them and nurtures them. In that sense, it refers to the time of the redeemed. This is a very important time.
On the other hand, some people have a time under the wrath of God. God will surely judge. They are facing a terrible judgment. You reap what you sow. Hidden sins are exposed, and things that have been hidden for a long time are exposed, and they are continuously being judged. There are such times under the wrath of God--a terrible judgment.
There is one more time. This is a trial grace period. have already been judged. However, the execution is suspended because there is a certain dispensation that is necessary for the sake of others who will be saved, not for the sake of oneself. In other words: Someone has committed a great sin now and will be judged. It shouldn't have been finished by being struck by lightning right away, but it isn't. Spiritually and practically, even after being judged, the sentence is suspended. Such was the judgment of Jesus against the Pharisees when Jesus was on this earth. "Woe to you Pharisees (Luke 11:41)"--In the original Greek, it is 'anadematizo'. It is 'to be punished'. it has been judged. He has already been judged, but he is still alive. But it is not a life to be saved. It's just that the sentence is being put on hold. So was the king, and so was Judas Iscariot. In this way, there is a time in the meaning of being judged and living the rest of your life.
Also, there is a beautiful time for those who are waiting for redemption. ?쏻aiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies??(Romans 8:23). Although it is painful in the world, it is waiting for the second coming of the Lord, the day of adoption. To put it in the extreme, it goes like this: Martyrs have the glory to enjoy in the future. Looking at it, we are now undergoing the process of martyrdom. You are going through a difficult tunnel. He is now bleeding and martyring in pain. It is this time, this time of suffering. But what a glorious moment. The life of the saints has such a meaning. The time of the saints waiting for redemption is here.
An American Methodist bishop named Philip Brooks is an elderly man who is now seriously ill and is on his deathbed. It hurts so much that I don't see anyone. No one will come and see you. But one day, a friend named Ingleson, whom I had been attending school with as a child, came to visit. Even though he evangelized so many times, he was a person who lived his life by insisting on being an atheist until the end. However, the person who refused all meetings was the one who met this friend. Yes, we talked for a while and then went back. The family was curious and asked. "Why did you meet that humble atheist friend, while rejecting all of your dear ones?" The director then responded with a very humorous response. ?쏧 don?셳 have to say hello because the other person will go to heaven and meet him, but that friend will definitely go to hell, so I met him for the last time. Everyone, it seems that we are living in the same time, but we are not living in the same time by any means.
Have you considered the property of time? Time is an intangible resource. Time is the greatest of all capitals. Young people don't really have much time, do they? Even because of that, a young man has absolutely no right to mourn. From an older person's point of view, just being young is enough to make you happy. It's nonsense to cry and cry when you're young. How important is being young? Don't have time?
Now look. Time is your biggest resource. It is an intangible resource. Also, time is given equally to everyone. There is no discrimination between the rich and the poor. Time is fairest. And whether you use it or not, whether you know the meaning or not, time dies. Time continues to flow from the past to the present. Whether I know it or not, the time given to everyone keeps passing. Again, time cannot be saved. It is said that it saves money, stores knowledge, and stores anything like a computer, but time is not saved. it just flows. Time is not transferable. I can't even trade. You can't even buy it with money. This is why time is precious.
Sometimes people say this. "Please give me some time." If you ask me for money, I can give you some, but I can't give you time. If someone has given you an hour for me, you should really appreciate it. Because you gave me a precious time in that person's life. This is not a matter of money counting. Time is not of a negotiable nature. Yeah, don't you say things like this sometimes? When a young man suddenly dies, an old man grieves. "You must live and I must die ..." Yes. Time is not transferable. I can't even trade.
Time has a psychological time that is different from physical time. You need to know this. Here is the variability in the nature of time. Look. Time is too long for those who wait. For those who are afraid, it passes quickly. Time can't be that long when you're grieving. Time is short when you are happy. There is such a psychological time. Another thing to think about is that the time that has passed does not come back. One pass and it's over. Time is not coming back.
But what about our attitude towards this precious time? Let's look at some types. First, there is the time-breaking type. Destroy that precious time. People who gamble, people who drink, people who use drugs, and many more. Are you spending that precious time drinking and being stupid? That wasted time. Is that all? Stealing other people's time. Destroy other people's time. Now get up and hold on to the person who wants to go get one more drink. I am destroying that person's precious time. The world is difficult because there are time-destroying humans. In fact, it is not time-destroying, but life-destroying.
