Title: Save Time Text: Ephesians 5:15-18
Jesus told us who live today to save time and prepare for the last days. Believers must save time every day and live by doing God's will completely in the Word. The Lord told the parable of the five wise virgins and the five foolish virgins. The five wise virgins saved their time and prepared to welcome the bridegroom. But when the five foolish virgins had time, they wasted their time by using it in the wrong place. In the end, the result is that the five wise virgins participated in the feast with the bridegroom, but the five foolish virgins were thrown out into the darkness outside, weeping, grinding their teeth, and weeping. There doesn't seem to be much difference between saving time and wasting time. But the results make a huge difference.
1. Why? Need to save time?
1) Since times are evil, we must save time. Ephesians 5:16 That the times are evil (phoneros) is that the times are bad. This means that there are many obstacles or pressures that try to misuse time and opportunity, which can be dangerous. There are many temptations and snares that make us waste our time, so we need to be alert and save our time. Evil also means the end of the world. Jesus said of the end of the world: In Matthew 24:8 and below, it is said that calamities begin, believers are hated because of the name of Jesus, and iniquity prevails. He said that this is the sign of the end. It is saying that the rise of evil is the end. Therefore, we should save time and serve God with right faith. This is one of the main reasons why we should save time.
2) In order not to live a life in vain, we need to save time. Those who have no wisdom in verse 15, fools in verse 17, and debauchery in verse 18 are those who live in vain. He who lives in vain is said to be without wisdom. A person without wisdom refers to a person who does not know what to know in life. He also said that those who live in vain are fools. Those who do not know God the Creator are fools. Luke 11:40 He said that those who live greedy and ignorant of death are fools. Luke 12:20, A foolish person is one who does not know the principle of blessing. 1 Corinthians 15:36, A person who lives in vain is a debaucher. He is a person who pursues pleasure. Alcohol is a food that represents pleasure. There is always alcohol in the place of cheating. So, there is alcohol in the place of bribing or plotting evil. There is alcohol in the place of sin. There is alcohol in the place of doing bad things. A place to cheat, a place to cheat, a place to gamble, a place to murder, where people hate alcohol.
2. What should I do to save time and live?
1) You must live with wisdom. Ephesians 5:15-16 “Time” here refers to “time”. The stupidest person in the world is one who wastes time. A person who is wasting time. The poor in the world are not those who have no money, but those who waste their time. A rich person is a rich person who uses his time wisely and usefully. So, a truly wise person does not waste time knowing that time is more important than anything else in the world. Time is more important than money, more important than jewels, more important than fame or power. So, what is true wisdom? It says Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” A wise man is one who spends his time in the fear of God.
2) If you want to save time and live, you must know what the will of the Lord is and live. Ephesians 5:17 When we go to someone else's house, if we know the way, we don't waste time finding it. The life of Jesus was not a life lived according to his own will, but a life lived according to the will of the Father. Therefore, Jesus also Luke 22:42 Living according to God's will is the life of a saint who serves Christ and is saved. Also, John 5:30 Living according to the will of the Lord is the way to live without wasting time.
3) If we want to save time and live, we must live by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 A drunkard wastes time. A drunken man lives a wasted life. You waste time, you waste material, you waste your life, you waste your knowledge and abilities. Therefore, those who spare time do not get drunk. And receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Holy Spirit means living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 Also, being filled with the Holy Spirit refers to receiving the power of the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit keeps us from living a wasted life. It has the power to save time.
