Title: Saying and Saying (I)/Matt 4:1-11
Contents While reading the Bible, I discovered an interesting fact. Take a good look at today's text. First, in Matthew 4:3, the tempter came to Jesus and said, If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.
In Matthew 4:4, Jesus answered and said to him, “It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” In the dialogue between the tempter and Jesus, we can see that the words of Satan and the words of Jesus are completely different.
Computers help in many ways in the ministry, but with vague expectations, I looked up Satan's words, saying, "Jesus' words, Karasade." Hopefully, I searched for it and found that the Bible uses the words 'word' and 'karasade' perfectly.
There are 1808 times in the Bible, and all of them were used either for human words or for Satan's words. Karasade appears 774 times, and it is the fact that it is 100% used only for God and only for Jesus. The devil tempts you with words, but God speaks with words. If we look closely at this meaning, we can discover the precious truth of faith here.
(Genesis 18:30) Abraham said, "My lord, do not be angry, but let me speak. What will you do if you find thirty there?" He said, "If I find thirty there, I will not destroy it."
(Genesis 18:31) And Abraham said, “I dare say to my lord. If you find twenty there, what will you do?” He said, “I will not destroy because of the twenty.
(Genesis 18:32) And Abraham said, "Do not be angry, Lord, but I will say this one more time. What will you do if you find ten there?" And he said, "I will not destroy for ten."
(Genesis 18:33) And when the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he went immediately, and Abraham also returned to his place.
(Genesis 3:1) The serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. The serpent said to the woman, “Did God really say to you, You must not eat from any tree in the garden?
The devil's temptation is like this, he said. It shows the three characteristics of this transverse devil temptation.
I. temptation of the devil
① The temptation of the devil is the temptation of the voice. If the devil appears as a black devil with horns and tempts him, even a living person will not fall for the devil's tricks. But the devil's temptation is the temptation of the voice. The devil speaks in our hearts. The devil said to Eve. Did God really tell you not to eat of any fruit of the garden? The devil tempts us with his voice in our hearts like this.
(John 13:2) The devil had already put in the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, the idea of selling Jesus.
Judas Iscariot knew what he was thinking right now as his own thoughts. It was his own judgment and he thought of it as a decision he had made. But the Bible says that Judas Iscariot's thoughts were the thoughts the devil gave him. The reason that Judas Iscariot came to such a thought was that the devil said, "Now, shouldn't we sell Jesus now? Selling Jesus is the way for Jesus. Judas followed the voice of the devil. In fact, we should know that some of the thoughts we think are clearly thoughts given by the devil. While we are living our life of faith, we have these and other thoughts, but we have to distinguish whether they are sayings or karasades.
② The devil's temptation is characterized by the fact that the words are appropriate.
The devil's words are logical. It all sounds reasonable. Everything makes sense. If we look at the words of the devil in the Bible, there is nothing logically wrong. All are valid and all are reasonable. Even in the words of the devil to Jesus, there is nothing out of context. Everything he said to Eve was true.
In fact, the thoughts of the devil are incomprehensible. Because it makes sense. Because I think it makes sense. The devil's voice is indistinguishable. He said, “Like Karasade, I am deceived without knowing whether the devil is tempting me or not. Because the idea makes sense and at the same time sounds reasonable. Here we need to be clear. Even if the words of the devil are worthy of the Aruri Sutra, we must not follow them, and we must follow God's words unconditionally even if they are not. Jesus said to Simon Peter. It is a truly absurd story of going deep into the depths and lowering the nets to catch fish. It's completely inappropriate. But he obeyed. God spoke to Abraham. Go and sacrifice your only son, Isaac, to the mountain I instructed you to. It doesn't make sense at all. But you must obey. The devil's words should not be followed, even if they make sense in the case. Because the result is a path to regret.
③ The history of Garodo is the history of dialogue.
In the Bible, temptations of the devil are often spoken of in dialogue. Snake and Eve are talking. The tempter comes and talks with Jesus. Simon Peter and Jesus are having a conversation.
(Matthew 16:22-23) Peter took hold of Jesus and pleaded with him, saying, “No, Lord, this will never happen to the Lord.” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Satan, go away, let me make you fall behind me. You are not thinking about the things of God, but you are thinking about the things of men.
④. The history of the saying is a temptation that works through weakness.
Regarding weaknesses, I would like to point out two important points here. No matter how sad, how angry, or how upset you are, you must not leave the church. Why? This is because you are exposing your weaknesses to the devil. No matter how filthy and cruel, the church should not repay evil with evil, but fight while overcoming evil with good so that there will be no regrets later. If you skip it once, it's bound to repeat itself. So what will that belief be? Even if you do well, if the devil makes you have a strange thought, you don't go to church again, and then no one else can build that faith.
In fact, the temptation that comes through our weaknesses is the most basic of the devil's temptations. Among the temptations of the devil, the lowest level of temptation comes through weakness. Still, people fail to overcome this level, so they fall into temptation and fall. Then how can we keep our faith when a temptation like Job comes?
We looked at the character of the devil's hyuk through the words of the devil. You need to know the passage of the devil's temptation to be able to block the way. I pray that you and I all have the blessing of defeating the devil's words with God's words.
