Lent began. It refers to the 40 days until the day when Jesus was crucified and is a time to quietly look back at ourselves with repentance and reflection.
In my experience, there are three things that are the most difficult to do: giving affection to someone you hate, accepting someone you don't like, and repenting for nothing. The third one is the most difficult. Repentance for what has been revealed is actually unavoidable, so it cannot be called repentance.
Repentance is voluntary. Repentance is not because someone asks you, but rather, if you hide it, it will be safer, you will gain face and respect, and voluntarily say, ‘I did something wrong.’ A person who can repent like this is a person. Moreover, it is foolish to withhold repentance when God cannot be blinded. The most fragrant offering is a penitent heart.
Repentance is a temporary stop. It is to give up the speed of one's own power and trust oneself in God's grace. Repentance has two eyes. One is tears-filled eyes looking back on the past, and the other is eyes full of emotion and bright eyes looking to the future. Repentance is a humble attitude of honest confession to God of my weaknesses, known only to me, and asking for mercy.
Dr. Frey's study of tears is really interesting. He scientifically proved that the chemical composition and the effect on people are different from naturally produced tears, such as those shed when cutting onions, and tears produced by emotion.
Emotional tears are said to have therapeutic effects both physically and mentally. It is scientifically proven that the experience of feeling refreshed after crying often is scientifically proven. It is said that tears when weeping with a loud voice are much more effective than when weeping.
Confession is confessing to God, and it has a great psychological effect. Why don't you shed some tears in the season of penance, Lent?
