Title: See Our Faith / Luke 5:17-26
Content: Look at our faith / Luke 5:17-26
Key Verse: “When Jesus saw their faith, he said to them, Man, your sins are forgiven you” (verse 20).
First of all, today's sermon provides a clear answer to the question, 'Who is Jesus?'. First, the description of him comes first. That is, "the Lord's power to heal was with him" (17). He is the one who had such power at the time and is still exercising that power through the Holy Spirit. However, He is not the only one who performs miracles of healing. More important than that, all human suffering is He is the one who solves the 'sin' that is the root of the tragedy.
Today's text emphasizes only the aspect of having the 'authority to forgive sins', but in the end, as John the Baptist says in John 1:29, he lives as the 'Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world' and solves it. He chose death on the cross for that.
Along with the teachings about Jesus, today's sermons also show that not everyone or anywhere can experience such healing and redemptive powers. The miracles Jesus performed clearly show the connection between the belief and the connection between the paralytic and those who helped him. Remember that the key to experiencing such power is whether we have such faith or not. Must do.
However, the important thing here is that the simple 'miracle of healing' has no real meaning in itself. Rather, the true meaning of a miracle exists only when there is 'forgiveness of sins'. Therefore, Jesus said in verse 23, “Yes, “Which is easier to say, your sins are forgiven, or to say, ‘Get up and walk’.”
Most people, including the Pharisees, would think that saying 'Your sins are forgiven' is easier than saying 'Get up and walk', which can be quickly confirmed. He said that to make him do it. However, the Pharisees who did not understand Jesus' intentions can find that they are evaluating Him as 'blasphemous'.
Many people believe in Jesus because they focus on freedom from 'pain and hardship'. But today's verse teaches us that Jesus did not come simply to solve it, nor to make us comfortable on this earth. .He came to this earth to solve the 'sin' that is the root of all suffering and tragedy. Therefore, even if we do not experience the 'healing power', we believe in him in our hearts to receive 'forgiveness'. If you do, you have received what is most important to you. This is why you should always be able to be grateful, no matter what the circumstances.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for allowing me to live on this earth today as well. Make my daily life a life of faith, and experience Your forgiveness of sins moment by moment, and overflow with gratitude. Pray in the name of Jesus Amen.
