Title: Seeing Their Faith... (Mark 2:1-12)
Contents
Are there people in this world who live without problems?
On the outside, everyone looks peaceful, but when you go inside, most people live with their own problems.
And most of the problems can be solved with human effort or material power.
However, there are some problems that cannot be solved not only by human effort or material strength, but also by nothing.
In the case of the paralytic who appears in today's text, the problem of his disease was a serious problem that could not be solved with the medical techniques of that time. Of course, the reality is that even with today's medical technology, it is almost impossible to cure paralysis.
This person has probably had a really hard and exhausting life since he got paralytic. He would not have been able to move freely without the help of others, and perhaps even eating and defecating could not have been possible on his own.
But Jesus came to the village where the paralytic was living. It was the 福音 (Gospel). It was an absolute opportunity that could change his life.
So the four men around him go to the house where the Lord is staying, with him lying on his bed. The four of you may have been his friends or his family or relatives. However, when they arrived in front of the house where the Lord was staying, they had to see a desperate scene. People had already gathered like a cloud around the very house where the Lord was staying. All they could do was wait for their turn on the spot or give up and go back home.
However, they give up both desperate choices and start a new challenge. It was irrational and immoral. He climbed up on the roof of someone else's house, tore the roof off, and hung the bed on which the paralyzed man was lying with a rope, creating a scene like a scene from a spy movie.
There was only one reason for them to resort to such unsportsmanlike methods. It was to show the paralytic to the Lord. They had faith that the Lord could heal them if they showed it to them, so they went out to seek the Lord's blessings by any means possible.
At last our Lord saw the bed coming down through the roof, and the poor paralytic lying on the bed. And our Lord says:
“I tell you, get up, take your bed, and go home” (verse 11).
There was only one reason the Lord had solved the paralytic's insoluble problem. “When Jesus saw their faith…” (verse 5)
Please remember that “our faith” is the only reason Jesus can solve our unsolvable problems.
What is the problem in your life?
I hope you go ahead with the problem before the Lord. If you can't go because of the crowds, I want you to go up on the roof, break through the roof, and send your problem down to the Lord.
I hope that you will be able to take all the problems that may arise in your life this year and bring them to the Lord with faith and be able to solve them all.
