2 Chronicles 7:12~22 Seek the face of the Lord Topic: 14. Prayer 2005. 10. 2.

Introduction

: After the construction of the temple and the royal palace was completed, God appeared to Solomon again and reaffirmed the covenant he gave to David.

It deals with the fact that he emphasized the importance of obedience.

1. God appears to Solomon again (11-12)

About 20 years have passed since he appeared as a response to Solomon's 1,000 burnt offering, and 13 years had passed since the dedication of Solomon's Temple.

The purpose of God's reappearance is to give Israel a new spiritual awakening through the covenant.

2. God's Promise (13~16)

Even if Israel sins and is punished for all kinds of sins, He promises to forgive and restore them if they repent.

What must we do to receive God's grace?

One). It is to humble oneself (referring to a change of heart as the first step to repentance).

Let go of the attitude that has been disregarding God in the past by acting on one's own accord, and speaking of an attitude of acknowledging God in everything.

2). is to pray

Prayer is giving up one's thoughts and will, submitting oneself to God's will, and relying on Him.

3). seeking the face of God.

Seeking God's mercy and living by it

4). to depart from the evil way.

This is to put into practice what you realize.

(It refers to putting away greed and injustice and actually living a life that is pleasing to God.)

Three expressions of God's presence in the text

① God chose this temple.

② God made this temple holy.

③ In the name of God, God has made this temple permanent.

As God is present in the temple, the Israelites must come out to pray here.

3. The Blessing Path and the Cursing Path (17-22)

God, who said that his name will be in the temple forever, and that his eyes and heart will always be toward it,

He speaks of the conditions that must be presupposed for the promise of blessing to be maintained.

Contents

; In order to receive blessings from the reaffirmation of the covenant God gave to David, we must obey God thoroughly.

It is emphasized that disobedience inevitably leads to judgment and curse.

One). Obedience is the only way to blessing.(17~18)

God promised David an eternal throne. However, in order for this covenant to be maintained, he must succeed David.

descendants like David

① It means that we must do everything that God has said.

② It means that we must keep the laws and regulations that God has taught us (absolute obedience).

David acted with a perfect heart before God and obeyed the law.

2). Disobedience is the way of the curse. (19-22)

In case of disobedience, all kinds of curses will come as a result.

Disobedience is deviation from the Word of God.

(In this text, we do not keep the word of God and serve other gods)

What are the consequences of disobedience?
