Title: Seek Wisdom / James 1:5-8
Seek Wisdom / James 1:5-8
1 Kings 3 tells the story of King Solomon of Israel glorifying God as a thousand burnt offerings. When Solomon became king, the first thing he did was to worship God. Solomon's devotion was so great that God appeared to him in a dream and asked, "What shall I give you?" At that time, Solomon did not seek wealth and honor for himself, but asked for wisdom to judge the people God had given him well and to discern between good and evil. That prayer was in God's heart. So, God gave Solomon wisdom as well as wealth and honor.
The text says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” Ask God for wisdom. Seek wisdom, not knowledge. Wisdom comes from God. Wisdom comes from a life that fears God. Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
There is wisdom in those who fear God but do not turn away from him. There is wisdom in those who humbly kneel before God and those who worship Him. The knowledge of the world sometimes brings anxiety and worry, but the wisdom of God brings peace and joy. Leave my knowledge and information behind and seek God's wisdom. God's wisdom is true wisdom.
