Title: Self-discovery
Luke 5:8-10 ‘8. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus' knees and said, "Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinner."
10. James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners, were also astonished. Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid, from now on you will take men." Anira' - Amen.
If you read the text from verse 1, the Lord came to Peter, who had been washing his nets all night, and the Lord came to him and told him to cast his nets into the depths to catch fish. It was an event that marked a major turning point in Peter's life.
Many people understand that it means to receive blessings like a fisherman who caught a lot of fish by believing in Jesus.
1. Jesus came to us in the midst of failure
If the meeting with Peter and his companions had been a time when they were happy and satisfied with catching a lot of fish, it would have been meaningless to ask them to catch more fish. When they could not catch fish all night and were tired in body and mind, the Lord came and worked to catch many fish. So in the words of the Lord, Luke 6:20 ‘…Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of God’.
Those who are full have no interest in heaven.
The Lord is still approaching people with the Gospel in a world that is still living with failures today. However, like Peter, they do not obey, so they cannot receive salvation and blessings. The Lord comes to us today as a word to us who are weak.
I hope you will accept the Lord consciously of the fact that we are weak and that we are always lacking. If I think that I can live my life properly, I can't go beyond that, and I can't help others because I lack spiritual or physical abilities, and I only live and die. However, I hope that we will receive grace by thoroughly realizing our shortcomings and obeying the Lord's commands.
2. The word of the Lord is an object of obedience, not a philosophy
Fishing is mainly done at night, and it is difficult to catch fish when the sun rises in the morning. The fishermen who did not catch any fish all night were now washing their nets in anticipation of tomorrow night, but the Lord comes and commands them to get down into the deep and catch fish.
In terms of fishing, Peter is an expert, the optimal time for fishing has passed, and the lowering of the net is good, but it is not appropriate to tell him to throw it into the depths. And Peter and his co-workers were in a bad mood to receive these words, as they were exhausted from the lack of fish last night.
The important thing is the Lord Jesus who made the meat, so if you obey, miracles will happen. But Peter did not believe so.
First of all, in this chapter, verse 5, Luke 5:5 ‘Simon answered and said, “Teacher, we
