As the persecution of Christians ended and the freedom of faith was proclaimed, the Resurrection Sunday of Jesus was celebrated in a grand way. And the 40 days before Easter Sunday were designated as Lent, and during this time, he was especially devoted to living a godly life. During Lent, devout believers prayed, repented, fasted, memorized the Bible, and preached. In particular, it has become a Christian tradition to prepare for baptism and be baptized on the morning of Easter Sunday. This year too, we celebrated the first Sunday of Lent, which is 40 days ahead of Easter Sunday, which comes with the new spring. The scriptures given to us on this day are the words of one of Jesus' disciples at the Last Supper, saying, "You will betray me." This literally foreshadowed the fact that Judas Iscariot had sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver and handed it over to the Jews and Roman soldiers. However, this is the fulfillment of the words already prophesied in Psalm 41:9. There are many things that were bought and sold in the Bible. Among them, the sale of Joseph to Egypt in Genesis 37:27 in the Old Testament and the sale of Jesus by a disciple in today's text have an important meaning that forms a double difference.
1. Jesus was sold as a sin offering.
2. Jesus was offered as a ransom.
3. Jesus says, “Get up, let's go together” (Mark 14:41-42).
Today is the first Sunday of Lent. Until the day when you experience the resurrection of the Lord, I hope that you will become a disciple of Christ who praises even the path of suffering and pain.
