Text: Exodus 20:8-10
People in the world think, 'How can I live a healthy and happy life?' However, those of us who live a life of faith tend to think, 'How can I do well in my life of faith?' Living a God-centered life is more important than living well and being healthy. The Christian life is not just about the system of the church or knowing the church well. It is only union with Jesus, and experiencing the existence of God in the field of life.
There are four elements necessary for this life of faith.
① It is holy water for the week. Just as the purpose of creation and existence is only for the glory of God, on Sundays, we must unconditionally come before God and worship Him with all our heart and please Him. ② It is to make tithing a daily life. One-tenth of our material possessions belong to God (Mal 3:8), so by giving it to God, we maintain our relationship with God in its entirety. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
③ It is to save souls through evangelism.
④ Participation in the service life of the church. It is to experience the love and sacrifice of God by participating in vehicle guides, fellowship room meal preparation members, guides, donations, and choir teachers.
Today, among these four elements, I will tell you about the holy water for the week.
1. Sunday is the day Jesus set apart.
Genesis 2:3 says, “God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because God rested on this day after all the work he had created and made.” This Sabbath is the shadow of the Sunday. Colossians 2:16-17, “Therefore, let no one judge you about what you eat or drink or because of a festival or a new moon or a sabbath; Exodus 12:16 says, “To you on the first day there will be a holy assembly, and on the seventh day there will be a holy assembly.” The ‘first day’ refers to the first day after the Sabbath (Matthew 28:1; Luke 24:1).
2. Sunday is more precious than the Sabbath.
① Just as the Sabbath is a blessed day because of rest (Genesis 2:3; 20:11), the Sunday is a blessed day because we serve God.
②Sunday is the day when sins are forgiven. It is the day that Jesus conquered our sins and conquered us.
③It is the day of receiving grace. It is a day when those who participate in worship receive grace from above through the holy word of God.
3. Sunday is the day of Jesus.
Why is Sunday the Lord's Day?
① Because it is the day the Lord was resurrected. It is the day that He broke the authority of death and rose from the dead, became the first fruits of those who fell asleep, and promised us the resurrection.
② Because it is the day the Holy Spirit was sent. The Holy Spirit promised by Jesus came on the Lord's Day, and the early church members gathered on Sunday to worship and share the Lord's Supper.
4. Sunday is a day to abstain from worldly affairs.
Exodus 31:15 says, “Whoever works on the sabbath shall be put to death.” Exodus 20:8-10 says, “Work hard for six days… Do not work” means to focus only on serving God. The human body takes one day off a week and can maintain mental and physical health when serving God.
The 1924 Olympic Games were held in Paris, France. Scotland's "Eric Little" was a gold medalist in 100M track and field, but gave up because the race was held on a Sunday. The country was full of posts criticizing him under the headline "I don't want to run on Sundays." However, the 100-meter runner as his candidate won the gold medal, and he added a gold medal by participating in an unplanned 400-meter race. In the end, we had the result of dedicating two gold medals to the country. When asked how the 100M athlete ran 400M, he answered, “I ran 100M with my own strength, and the remaining 300M ran with the power of God.” He later became a missionary to China and became a person who was respected by the whole nation.
Dear members of Shepherd Church,
Those who truly worship God receive God's love and blessings. As Hebrews 10:25 says, “Do not forsake our gatherings, as is the habit of some, but encourage them, and let us do it all the more as we see the day drawing near.” This day is a blessed day. This is the day Jesus was resurrected. It is truly a day when we worship God. As I cherish this day, I pray that God will add joy, peace, and health to you. Hallelujah!
