Title: Serving as a True Servant

Text: Matthew 10:42

Among the parables Jesus spoke, there is the parable of the talents. This is the story of a master giving out talents to his servants, leaving and coming back to evaluate and reward the servants for their work. There are two kinds of papers in the parable. One is a good and faithful servant and the other is an evil and lazy servant. The servant that the master wants is a good and faithful servant, that is, a true servant. Today we will take a look at this true servant.

1. A true servant gives up to serve himself.

A servant is someone who is ready to commit whenever needed, instead of saying he doesn't have time to do other things. Like a soldier, he is always on standby for his mission. (2 Timothy 2:4 A soldier must follow his commander and please him, so he cannot care about the little things of this world. The Easy Bible)

A true servant does not serve only when it is convenient. It does what it needs to do, even if it's uncomfortable. Even if there is a setback in my plans, if God wants me to, I do not complain and I always make time. Because slaves do not have the option to choose to serve only at certain times and places. To be a servant is to give up our right to control our schedules and to give ourselves up to work whenever God wants us to.

2. A sincere servant cares for the needs of others.

Servants are always looking for ways to help others. So, when we see people's needs, as the Bible commands, "Therefore, whenever we have opportunity, let us do good to all, but more to the families of faith" (Galatians 6:10). Never miss a moment. Every time God puts someone in need before us, we are given an opportunity to grow as a servant. Notice that God has said that we will make caring for the needs of the members of the church our top priority.

Due to our lack of sensitivity and agility, we have missed many opportunities to serve. good to serve

Opportunities don't last long, they pass quickly, and they don't come back. You may only have one opportunity to serve a particular person. “If you have it, do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again, and tomorrow I will give you” (Proverbs 3:28).

John Wesley was a great servant of God. He said, “Let me do all the good I can. By all means, by all means, at any place, at any time, at any time, with anyone, and as long as I can, I served as my motto. It looks like a great servant. We can start by paying attention to the very little things that other people don't want to do. Do small things like great things. God is watching.

3. A true servant does his best with what he has.

Species don't make excuses, procrastinate, or wait for things to get better. Never say “someday” or “when things get better.” Immediately do what needs to be done. That's why the Bible says that you can't do anything if you wait for the perfect situation. God wants us to do what we can with what we have, wherever we are. Imperfect service is always better than best intentions.

One of the reasons many people do not serve is because they feel they are not good enough to serve and are afraid. They believe in the lie that only superstars can serve God. Some churches make the “best” their idol and promote this misconception in the church, which discourages ordinary-talented members from serving.

You may have heard the saying, “If you don’t want to do it well, don’t do it,” but Jesus never said that. You can't do something well in the first place. Rather, we learn from our mistakes and shortcomings. Therefore, we should encourage ministry with the principle of good enough. (House Church - Encouragement and Applause) This is a ministry that God uses and blesses even if it is not perfect. We need to build a church with thousands of ordinary people, rather than a seemingly perfect church run by a few elites.

4. A true servant is equally committed in all things.

Whatever the servant does, he does it with all his heart. No matter the size of the work. It just asks, "Does this need to be done?" There is nothing you can do in life if you think you are too important to do trivial things. Because God will not exclude us from the real world.

Reality is a very important site in which we develop our character. That is why the Bible says, “If a man of nothing acts as if he has become anything, he deceives himself” (Galatians 6:3).

When we do small things, we become more like Jesus. Jesus' field of specialization was doing trivial things that others were reluctant to do. Washing feet, loving children, making breakfast. caring for lepers, etc. Because Jesus came to serve, there is no one whom you cannot serve. It is not required of us because Jesus did these things even though He is God, but because of the very reason that we serve Him, He wants us to follow His example (John 13:15).

There is nothing we cannot do if we have the heart of a servant. The servant's heart is shown through small actions that others do not think of. So the little thing a servant does is to show his broad heart. After the ship was damaged, Paul started a bonfire while picking up branches for others who were shivering in the cold (Acts 28:3). Paul was exhausted like the others. But it did what the other person wanted.

Great opportunities are sometimes disguised as little things. The little things in life make the big things. Nevertheless, people try to cling only to big things, even for God. When we begin to do less great work, God will entrust us with another work of God. Therefore, before you try anything special, try to serve with ordinary things. (Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and he who is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.)

Many are willing to do great things for God, but few are willing to do small things. The competition to become a leader is fierce and cramped, but the road to becoming a servant is brightly open and few people find it even though there are many empty seats.

A servant's heart is developed as we strive to provide for our needs, whether we serve above or below.

5. True servants are faithful to their ministry.

Sincere servants are faithful to their work, to fulfill their responsibilities, to keep their promises, and to commit themselves to the end. A true servant is not one who does not give up halfway through discouragement, and does not leave half-finished work. He is someone you can trust and depend on until the end.

Fidelity is a quality that is truly rare to find. Most people don't know the true meaning of devotion, so they give up their devotion for very little reason without any hesitation or remorse, after making a sincere dedication. In churches and other organizations, volunteers do not prepare properly or arrive without contact, so they have to work spontaneously.

Can you believe your dedication? How do you handle when you have promises to keep, vows to fulfill, and commitments to honor? All of which are tests of our faithfulness by God before being entrusted to us by man. If we pass this, we will belong to the same group as Paul, David, Moses, and Abraham. The better news is that God rewards our faithfulness in the eternal kingdom. (Matthew 25:23 His master said, Well done, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful over a little thing, I will put you in charge of many things. share in your master's joy)

There is absolutely no retirement for the faithful servant. Of course, I will retire from work, but there is no retirement from serving God.

6. A true servant maintains a low stance.

A sincere servant does not try to make propaganda or draw attention from others. We don't work to impress others, we serve in humility. Even if you acknowledge me, I am not swayed by fame It doesn't interfere with your work.

Blindfolding is an act to show others how spiritual and spiritual your service is. Following the actions of the Pharisees. They considered giving, giving, and even praying as performances to show others. That's why Jesus warned, "Be careful that you do not practice your righteousness before men to be seen by them, or you will have no reward with your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 6:1).

The pride of self and the heart of a servant cannot mix. A faithful servant does not serve for the praise or approval of others. As Paul confessed, “Am I now seeking to please men or God or men? If I had been seeking the joy of men, then I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10). I live for one God.

A true species cannot be found under colorful lighting. They avoid it whenever possible and are content to serve quietly in the shadows. Joseph served in Potiphar's home and in prison. Even when Pharaoh established him as the supreme ruler, he continued to serve the people as a servant. In particular, he served the brothers who sold him as a servant to the end. (Genesis 50:21 Do not be afraid, I will raise you and your children.) And he comforted them with earnest words.)

The unfortunate thing is that you start out as a servant, but later you go after the flashy lights as a celebrity and you become addicted to it.

Remember this if I am now serving as an anonymous person with no thanks. The fact that God sent you there for a purpose. Because God is the Father who counts the hairs on your head and knows all about you, stay there and serve until God decides to send you somewhere else. Your ministry is really important in the kingdom of God. “When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory” (Colossians 3:4).

Being famous is out of the question for a true servant. The reason is that they understand the difference between being famous and being meaningful. And most importantly, as hidden within the body, the greatest service is invisible. But God sees everything.

God will openly reward those servants who serve in the shadows without a name in heaven. He rewards the righteous, saying that what he did for the lesser ones he did for me. (Matthew 25:40) God knows and rewards even the smallest things. (Matthew 10:42 And whoever gives to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple Whoever gives him a cup of cold water, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.) Remembering these words, when your work goes unnoticed or people take it for granted, do not be discouraged and continue to worship God. Serve. “Therefore, my brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always devoted to the work of the Lord. For you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will serve as a sincere servant and become a channel of blessing to receive praise and reward as a good and faithful servant.
