Title: Set Up Twelve Stones
Contents
Today's worship service will focus on the text of the church's mission and responsibility.
1. God who made the Jordan River cross
After the people of Israel passed through the wilderness for 40 years, God appointed Joshua as the leader of Israel after Moses and allowed the Israelites to conquer the land of Canaan. But before they could enter the land of Canaan, there was one thing they had to pass through, and that was the Jordan River. God told the Israelites that if the priests carrying the ark went ahead and followed the people, they could cross the Jordan River like land. The Israelites obeyed the command and they were able to cross the Jordan River safely. God allowed the Israelites to safely cross the Jordan River, which was blocking the entry into the Promised Land, the Land of Canaan. Looking back on the past 18 years of our church, we do not know how many Jordan Rivers have been crossed. In every difficult moment and every turning point, God has given us a way of escape and has given us the strength and courage to overcome all those difficulties. All of this is God's grace and love.
2. Set up twelve stones
God, who made the Jordan River cross safely, commanded the Israelites to take the stones from the bottom of the Jordan River and build a monument in the middle of the Jordan River and at Gilgal where they arrived safely. So Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan River where the priests stood (54:9), and set them up again at Gilgal (Joshua 4:20). It was to make them fear God forever and never leave God (Joshua 4:24) and to provide religious education to their children who asked about the twelve stones. As we celebrate our 18th anniversary today, we should once again remember and give thanks to God's grace and love for the past years. In addition, we and our descendants must renew their resolve to live a beautiful life as God's people forever. We also believe that the church should fulfill its mission as we pray and wish.
Let us not only become believers who pray and evangelize in order for the church to revive and grow, but also give thanks to God's grace for allowing us to pass through the Jordan River of suffering and adversity over the past years. Also, let's do our best to become a church that glorifies God more and fulfills its mission.
