Title: Settlement of Kadesh/Numbers 20:1-5
Content 34. Settlement of Kadesh
Numbers 20:1-5
After going through a long tunnel of death and despair, the Israelites now have a hopeful land before their eyes. This is because 38 years have passed since the rebellion of Kadesh-Barnea, and the period of wandering in the wilderness according to God's word is almost over.
In the first month of that year, the Israelites returned to the Wilderness of Sin and encamped in Kadesh. 38 years ago, because of disobeying God, the long period of punishment for wandering in the wilderness was over, and they returned to their original position. But Moses' sister, Miriam, had to live in Canaan and do business there.
Kadesh is the place where the journey of suffering and death began due to the sins of the ancestors, but it is also the place where the stubbornness of the new generation that followed the unbelief of the ancestors caused the fatal mistakes of Moses and Aaron. There was a shortage of water because so many people lived in limited places, and the complaints of the people were great.
“Moses, it would have been better for our brothers to die together when they were punished by God. Why did you bring us out of Egypt to experience such a terrible death here with our beasts? There is no land to sow, no grapes, no pomegranates, no water to drink. Moses, tell me something.”
“You mean complaining again? To see your ancestors complaining to God and then dying and then doing the same foolish thing again? I am now tired of you.”
“You can swear at us, so please do something quickly.” Moses and Aaron bow down to God while the people's resentment fills the wilderness.
Everyone! If resentment and complaints come out of your lips, a red warning light has come on in your faith.
With the faith of ‘even if you don’t,’ we should have the habit of being thankful.
