Title: Seventy Weeks / Dan 9:20-27
Content Dan 9:20-27
Title: Seventy
1. Prayer is the hope of the saints. There is no eternal despair because of the grace of prayer.
2. Daniel's prayer was a prayer to repent of his own sins and the sins of the nation. This is because, in order to intercede for others, you must first purify yourself.
3. God sent the angel Gabriel to Daniel who was praying.
I. An angel has come (20-23).
A. I was praying. He prayed for his own sins and for the sins of his people. And he prayed for the glory of God (for Zion).
B. Gabriel, who means the Almighty of God, appeared. Gabriel is the angel of joy who announced the birth of John the Serenade and the conception of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke.
C. I have come with a message from God. It was the answer to Daniel's prayer. The angel in chapter 8 was touched and felt with the senses (8:18), but this time he appeared directly with the eyes.
II. What does seventy weeks mean? (24-27).
A.70 weeks
What does 1.70 weeks mean? The opinion of experts is that it does not refer to 70 weeks, but to the condition of having seven.
2. Therefore, we know that the 70 weeks are a special time ordained by God. It should be said that it refers to a specific period, and it can be said that it refers to the period from the Babylonian captivity of Israel to the liberation.
3. It is the fact that the 70 weeks in the text are the Old Testament Christology, which refers to the period of spiritual liberation.
B. Seven weeks and sixty-two weeks
1. There are two kinds of weeks in 24-25. The traditional view divided this period theologically,
1) It speaks from the liberation of Babylon to the birth of Jesus. Verse 25 says, “Therefore understand and know that seven weeks and sixty-two weeks shall pass from the time the decree is issued to rebuild Jerusalem, until the anointed one, the king, rises.”
2) This verse refers to the period from Daniel, who received this revelation, to the end of the 70-year captivity from that time until the birth of Jesus Christ.
2. During the period of seventy-two weeks, it was said that six events would occur (24).
1) The fault is finished. Because Christ atoned for the sins of man.
2) The end of sin. This is the forgiveness of sins. Because Jesus took the sins of the world and went to the cross.
3) Sin is hidden. It is said to be “perpetual”, which in the original language means “to cover”. Reconciliation with God was achieved because Jesus Christ Himself became the sacrifice.
4) Eternal righteousness is revealed. Eternal righteousness is an expression that refers to God Himself. In Jeremiah 33:16, “the Lord our righteousness”, and in Isaiah 61:3 the saints are called “trees of righteousness”.
5) It is said that visions and prophecies are fulfilled. This is the overall expression of the Old Testament times. Old Testament
Since there was no complete Bible in the times, God revealed His will through visions and prophecies whenever necessary.
6) It is said that the Most High is anointed with oil. In Luke 1:35, Jesus Christ is called the Holy One. The meaning of the word Messiah is that he is the anointed one.
