Title: Sheba's Rebellion/2 Samuel 20:1-13
Content "Seva's Rebellion"
The rule of God's kingdom is not democracy. That's not even communism. It is not humanism centered on humans, but God-centered neo-capitalism. Christianity does not exist for man, but exists for God Himself. Therefore, the kingdom of God is not a nation centered on humans, but the kingdom of God where it is governed by Christ to the end, and the church that is the body of the Lord appeared on the earth by advocating this principle. Therefore, the number of churches is not a criterion for decision-making in all matters. Just because the number is small doesn't mean everything is wrong. The standard of all things is a covenant. Anything that violates this covenant is not to be tolerated.
The root of the problem that led to Sheba's rebellion is as follows. Absalom's rebellion ended with his death and David returned to Jerusalem. In bringing King David to Jerusalem, all the people of the tribe of Judah attended, but only half of the people of the other tribes of Israel took part. In this process, the Israelites became dissatisfied and questioned the people of Judah. It's why you didn't even discuss something like that, and only you guys dealt with it. That's why they misunderstood that this was not done with the intention of stealing the king's heart so that only you could gain the glory. They are questioning whether it was an act of ignoring us and whether it was an act of stealing the glory that would come back to them purely for their own glory. So the Jews said that we came with the king only because we were close relatives to the king.
The Israelites erupted in anger, claiming that they should have the privilege of having a king in number, even if they were not the king's kin. Eventually, this anger escalated into Sheba's rebellion.
Among the many problems that occur in the church, we see many similar incidents, and most of them are of the same type as Sheba's rebellion. When something happens, you see it moving forward according to your emotions without thinking about the context of the event. Because everyone thinks and decides everything based on their own self-centeredness, any kind of work that is beneficial to oneself is acceptable. However, if it causes damage to oneself, no matter how well the work is done, they will be dissatisfied, and even small problems will be greatly magnified, causing misunderstandings, conflicts and disputes, and eventually leading to a fight.
However, if it is the church that is the body of the Lord, you should think of the church that is the body of the Lord rather than yourself, and you should be a person who thinks about the spirit of the Lord's cross more than your pride. Therefore, we members of the church should know that it is not right to push just because there are few numbers.
The first thing David did after returning to Jerusalem was to imprison the ten concubines in a private room and make them live widows until death. He did this because he slept with his son Absalom, but it turns out that it was all because of David's sin. Next, Amasa was commanded and attempted to attack Sheba. However, he was delayed in convening the army and was cut off, and instead appointed Abishai to pursue Sheba. Amasa met Joab without knowing that he had been fired, and Joab pretended to kiss him and stabbed him to death.
Sheba, son of Bichri the Benjaminite, was a rogue. The turbulence in the Bible refers to those who do not hesitate to commit illegal acts and those who are ignorant of the Davidic Covenant are called rogues. Therefore, this man Sheba was ignorant of David's covenant and rebelled against David, the head of the covenant.
The nation of Israel is not maintained because of the good rule of the human King David, but because of God's sacrifice. Those who are represented by God's sacrifice are people like Uriah and people like Tamar.
The true mission of the nation of Israel is to fulfill God's covenant in the Promised Land. The fulfillment of this covenant is not determined by the superiority of power gained through the shedding of blood and sword fighting in the continuum of war, but it is a covenant made with the blood of sacrifice that is unfairly sacrificed for that power. Therefore, if those who became Israel did not know the meaning of this sacrifice, they could no longer be called Israel. Those who are darker in the love and grace of God than winning the war are strangers and rogues who have nothing to do with the covenant. Such people have nothing but judgment according to the covenant. The essence of the covenant can be understood according to how the person who is not related to the covenant dies. His death does not mean that he is killed while fighting on the battlefield, but that Bethmaah is taken refuge in the city of Abel and is murdered by an unnamed woman. 2 Samuel 20:22 "Then the woman spoke with her wisdom to all the people, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bichri and threw it at Joab. Then Joab blew his trumpet, and the crowds were scattered and withdrew from the city, each returning to their tents, and Joab to Jerusalem. and went back to the king."
The discontent and treason of Sheba the Benjaminite stemmed from the misunderstanding and misunderstanding that the king was the one who could take all their inheritance. 2 Samuel 20:1 says, ?쏛nd there was a turbulent stream there, who was called Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite, and he blew his trumpet and said, ?쏻e have no part with David, and we have no business with the son of Jesse. Come back to my hometown.??He cried out, thinking that he had no intention of being with David, and that he would have nothing to do with him, let alone a portion or a drop of broth to return to me. So he led the people. How great a sin this is is told through his death.
In Israel, both the king and the inheritance of the people of Israel are God's own property. It cannot be owned by anyone. Not only Sheba, but even the Israelites were ignorant of this fact. Not only that, in the midst of this, not acknowledging the specificity of the king that God has established is also an unforgivable sin. Thus, the rebellion of Sheba the Benjaminite is not justified in this respect.
No matter what difficult situation comes to us, it is not a life of resenting and complaining about anyone, but, to the end, believers must recognize that the given environment is a situation that God has created and live. If not, we have no choice but to live in dissatisfaction and complaint, which inevitably manifests itself as rebellion and rebellion before God. Therefore, as Philippians 1:20 says, "According to my earnest expectation and hope, I will not be ashamed of anything, but I am now fully confident as before, so that Christ may be honored in my body, whether by life or death." A person who lives a life of self-sufficiency (Philippians 4:10-12) is the image of a believer because it is a life that is pleasing to the eyes and the circumstances the Lord has provided in any situation. ??
