Shepherds' Christmas
(Luke 2:8-20)
Today is Christmas, the day Jesus was born. The day Jesus was born is really important. So, the turning point in history is made based on the day Jesus was born. The birth of Jesus is so important because the birth of the Lord changes the lives of mankind, and the birth of the Lord is a blessing to us. So what kind of luck will it be?
First, the blessing of salvation from sin came through the coming of our Lord / Matthew 1:21.
In Matthew 1:21, the meaning of the name of Jesus is to save his people from their sins. We, who were dead because of our sins, received forgiveness from our sins and received the blessing of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Second, the blessing of Immanuel came as the Lord came to this earth / Matthew 1:23.
Verse 23 says, “Behold, a virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel, which is translated, ‘God with us.’” Immanuel means God with us. The greatest of grace is the grace of Emmanuel.
Third, I was filled with joy because the Lord came / Luke 2:10.
In verse 10, the angel said, “Do not be afraid, behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will come to all the people.” Christianity is a religion of joy. When we meet the Lord, our sorrow turns into joy, and we receive comfort and courage through the Word.
Fourth, peace came through the coming of the Lord / Luke 2:14.
Verse 14 says, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased.” Jesus is the Prince of Peace and came to this earth as the Prince of Peace. Today's text is the first Christmas picture, and the angels told the shepherds that Jesus was born, and it is the shepherds' faith that knew the birth of the Lord.
1. The faith of the shepherds is faith in action / verses 15-16.
God loves faith in action. Faith in action is a living faith.
2. The faith of the shepherds is the faith that preaches / Verse 17.
The good news of Christmas is not just for me. We must preach to those who still have not heard the gospel and are making it a day of pleasure for themselves. Please live a life of witnessing the Lord of Christmas with joy like the shepherds.
3. The faith of the shepherds is the faith that gives thanks and praise/v.
The Christmas hymns brought hope to those at the scene of death.
May this Christmas be filled with praise and thanksgiving.
Conclusion. This Christmas, I hope that you will become saints of faith who act like shepherds, have faith to preach, and overflow with thanks and praise.
