Title: Siloam (John 9:112)
Content - Body -
The text is a miraculous record of a blind man opening his eyes.
If you look at the text as recorded, it is a simple miracle event.
In other words, it is a miraculous event in which a blind man who was blind from birth met Jesus and opened his eyes that could not be opened by the power of Jesus.
However, the fact that this event is recorded in the Bible is not only recorded with the intention of passing on these miracles of Jesus to future generations.
As with all the words of the Bible, these words also have a spiritual lesson to pass on to future believers.
Today, focusing on this miraculous event, we will try to find out what the teachings God is trying to give us through the text.
1. blind
The main character of today's text is blind.
He has eyes but cannot see.
It wasn't because of an accident or disease that caused an eye injury and made him blind.
It is congenital, blind from birth.
This person has been blind since birth, so he lived as if the world was always so dark.
But as he grew up, he gradually realized that others were different from him.
Those people see things differently than they do.
He is saying that he sees what he feels, touches, and smells only.
It's colorful, beautiful, and dazzling.
Now it is different from before.
When I didn't know, I thought it was fate because I didn't know, so I could accept it, but now it's frustrating.
is what you want to see.
I would have resented it too.
I would have complained too.
I would have tried to see.
However, as time went on, he realized that he could not see him no matter how hard he tried, and he had no choice but to give up.
Despair.
It is a fateful life blocked by a dark mountain.
This is our life.
Many people live in this world with a heart like a frog in a well.
It goes without saying that when the sun rises, it sets, and when you are born you die!
If you commit a sin, you have to pay the price for your sin.
If you get sick, you die, and you can't be happy without money.
Ex) A song from What is Love?
Tatata
You don't know me, do I know you?
It's not fun if you don't know everything even an inch ahead
On a windy day, when it rains with the wind, you get wet
That's it, ummmmm haha
it's good to live
It's a lucrative business.
You were born naked, so you got a pair of clothes.
This is my life in vain
What fun is it to live without even worrying about the world?
That's a good thing hahaha
On a windy day, when it rains with the wind, you get wet
that's it
This is my life in vain
These words simply tell us the life we live in.
But as we go through life, we hear different news.
In a world like a dark night, you hear something different, like dawn.
These are unbelievable words because the world we live in is a world like destiny, but they are fresh words that appeal to us.
Forgiveness, forgiveness and love,
Heaven, the kingdom of God,
cross and salvation,
resurrection and eternal life,
A rewarding life, a life without regrets.
But many people hear this news, but no one wakes up to the light of this dawn.
Because hearing is different from seeing.
Because seeing is different from seeing just by touching it.
Because you can't judge by smell.
So, the place where all life is needed is found in the text.
2. Siloam
The pool of Siloam is actually a small pond in Israel.
However, in the text, the words symbolized by Siloam have more meaning.
For this blind man, this Siloam is not just a pond.
That Siloam was a new life for this blind man, a new way of life, and all-seeing eyes.
The same goes for our lives.
This Siloam is truly a miracle for those who are in a desperate situation on the dark road of life.
Our Lord has given us a new Siloam in our hearts, not the Siloam in the land of Israel, for all those who are desperate and fall into a dark situation in this world.
I hope that all of our members who are listening to this word today will be all the members who live with this Siloam in their hearts.
So, let's take a closer look at what this Siloam means in detail here.
1. It is an encounter with Jesus.
Verse 1: As Jesus was going on the way, he saw a man blind from birth.
If this blind man had not met Jesus passing by, he would have had no choice but to live blind for the rest of his life.
This meeting with Jesus allowed him to have Siloam, to accomplish miracles, and to become a new person who sees the beautiful world anew.
Therefore, the Siloam of our lives is to meet Jesus.
Because meeting with Jesus will change your life.
From ancient times, all people of great faith started a life of great faith from their encounter with Jesus.
Paul did. (Explanation)
Peter did.
Thomas did that.
Augustine, Son Yang-won, Kim Ik-doo, Joo Ki-cheol, and everyone else was like that.
Meeting with Jesus works miracles.
Five diseases, Bartimaeus, the paralyzed man (paralyzed, 38-year-old man, withered hands, demon-possessed man, hemorrhagic disease,) Zacchaeus, tax collector Matthew, robber.
Through this encounter with Jesus, I hope that all the saints who live with the eternal Siloam in their hearts will become.
Don't forget, this meeting is not the only one.
It continues through the altar of God.
Church attendance is the venue for this meeting.
You who come to this temple are always renewing Siloam in your heart.
2. Hearing the words of Jesus.
In verses 5-7, while I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
It is difficult to achieve miracles just by meeting.
After the meeting, you should listen to the words.
It is to have faith.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Yes.
Faith grows by hearing the Word.
Faith is the driving force behind miracles.
If we want to have the living faith, the faith that has the power to move mountains, we must listen to the Word.
When we listen carefully to the word of the Lord and grow our faith, we will experience miracles.
Romans 10:14 says, "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? How shall they hear without a preacher?"
Faith grows only by listening, so those who diligently listen to the Lord will experience miracles and have the true heart of Siloam.
3. It is obeying the words of Jesus.
7 Then he went and washed and came back with bright eyes.
Jesus did something incomprehensible to this blind man.
In verse 6, it says, ?쏦e spit on the ground, made mud, and put it on his eyes.??If you think about it, going to Siloam in such a state would be an insult worse than death.
However, in this blind man's meeting with Jesus, his faith grew by hearing the word, and even though he received such insults, he was able to accomplish this miracle and have the eternal Siloam in his heart when he obeyed without giving in.
1 Samuel 15:22
Samuel said, "The LORD has obeyed the burnt offerings and other sacrifices with his voice.
Would you like it as much as you like it? Obedience is better than sacrifice, and listening is the
As the saying goes, ?쏝etter than oil?? obedience is the secret to accomplishing miracles and possessing Siloam.
3. Finally, a new person.
I am no longer blind.
I opened my eyes.
It's not just the eyes of the body.
Both the eyes of the soul and the eyes of the mind are opened.
I met Jesus, listened to Jesus, and obeyed and got Siloam.
Now he has become a person who has Siloam in his heart.
He became a witness to that Siloam.
Verse 11 says that a man named Jesus made mud and put it on my eyes, and said to me, ?쏥o to Siloam and wash.??So he went and washed, and he was able to see.
This man now has Siloam in his heart.
Because we humans are weak, Jesus gave Siloam into our hearts.
Dear saints,
We hope that the members of Hoengseong First Church will always live with this Siloam in their hearts.
I hope you will diligently meet Jesus and listen to His words.
Sometimes it is difficult to understand and accept things that are difficult to accept.
You will surely achieve miracles and become a person of Siloam who becomes a new person.
I pray in the name of the Lord that all the saints who are living miracles with this eternal Siloam as the coordinates in their hearts and in their lives will become.
