Title: Simeon and Anna Waiting for Jesus (2)

Luke 2:25-39 Simeon and Anna waiting for Jesus (2)
Continuing from last week, I want to receive the grace of God through the words of this text. The text tells about two people, Simeon and Anna, who experienced a very special grace of God at a time when they lost hope. In the end, we should pay attention to these two people because they are the messengers of hope, those who waited and prayed after realizing that God's comfort and salvation are the only true hope and hope for them.
Simeon and Anna holding Jesus
Shouts burst out of the mouths of Simeon and Anna. The two of them are exclaiming with an exhilarating voice that they can't control when they see a child piled up in a rag. He holds the child and sheds hot tears and praises God (Luke 2:29-32). It was because he was convinced that the child was “the salvation of the Lord,” that is, the long-awaited Messiah.
2. Simeon and Anna discover Jesus
Simeon and Anna have no signs of the birth of Jesus Christ. But how could he confess with conviction that he was the light that illuminates the Gentiles, the glory of Israel, and the savior, as soon as he saw the child in the arms of his poor parents? Let's take a look at his life.
1) He is a righteous person.
‘Righteous’ is expressed in the Greek word ‘dikaios’, which means ‘to obey the laws of God and men’ and ‘honest’.
2) He is a godly person.
These were people who lived a life dedicated to God, especially the dream they had in God, the dream of the Messiah.
3) Those who wait for the comfort of Israel.
He was a man waiting for God's merciful hand of salvation for his chosen people, his country.
4) A person who is led by the Holy Spirit.
To the righteous and godly, the Holy Spirit continued to rest upon him in a holy state.
5) A person who loves the temple.
The temple is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God's work was going on there, and they wanted to be together where God was working and where God's work was being accomplished.
3. What did Simeon and Anna see through Jesus?
1) I saw the Lord's salvation (verse 30).
In the baby Jesus, he saw the light of salvation, the light of life, to save the people who were suffering from disease, poverty, sin and death.
2) I saw that it was prepared before all people (verse 31).
He came for all who look to him in faith.
3) I saw the glory of your people Israel.
They saw that your people would be glorified in Jesus Christ.
I pray in the name of the Lord that you and I will live a life of praying and proclaiming hope and hope for our homes, churches, and nations.
Today, I would like to remember the countless Simeons and Annas in our church who served without a name on the first Sunday of this December and prayed without a name.
