Title: Sin and Forgiveness Youngjin Church

Text: Leviticus 5:1-19

If we live in a world where sin is rampant, there are times when we fall into evil sins without realizing it. So, what is sin and how can it be forgiven?

1. You must first realize what sin is (1-4). The Bible says that it is a sin to testify falsely, to be untruthful before God, to come into close contact with an unclean thing, and to commit these things knowingly or intentionally.

However, even after committing these sins, there are many times when we do not realize it, and this completely destroys our relationship with God (Isa 59:1-2).

Only when we realize our sins through the Word of God can we find the way of forgiveness.

2. You must confess the sins you realize (5). We must confess our sins in detail. Not confessing our sins is suffering (Psalm 32:2-3), and when we confess, we receive forgiveness (Psalm 32:5).

Confessing your sins is the restoration of your relationship with God (Psalm 32:6), and you should know that it is the culmination of a new path of life. When we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

3. You must offer sacrifices for sin. (6) You must offer a lamb or goat without blemish, but only by the priest.

Here, the Lamb is a type of Jesus, and since Jesus bore our sins and the sacrifice offered once for all, eternal efficacy is shown. Only when you give you will live forever.

Received according to circumstances (Leviticus 5:7-19)

Even the people who are being saved have no choice but to commit sins while living in a world where sin is rampant. Especially, when people realize that they have sinned and want to receive forgiveness of their sins, when money is a problem, there are rules that God has given for them.

1. You must pay the price for your sins. 1) A sin offering was designated for the poor. (5:7-10): It was established as a ordinance that turtledoves or young pigeons should be offered to the Lord, but they should be offered separately as a sin offering and a burnt offering. 2) He established regulations for the poor. (5:1-13): This allowed fine flour to be obtained for those who are difficult to obtain even for turtledoves or young pigeons.

It is the grace of God given to those who realize their sins and long for forgiveness. The establishment of these rules is the result of mercy and abundant love for God who loved sinners and opened the way for salvation.

3) There are regulations for those who violate the holy things of the Lord (5:14-16); You must offer the trespass sin to the LORD, first, as of true worth, and second, as a ram without blemish

2. It is a ordinance that can only be performed by the priest.

Only the priest who has been entrusted with the authority from God can execute this ordinance.

Among the sacrifices, the most precious thing belongs to God, so you must give it completely to God by burning it. This foreshadows the Lamb Jesus Christ.

Only Jesus is the lamb without blemish and the perfect sacrifice to God. He paid the price for sin as a propitiation once and for all, and this is also assured to God.

Even if a man realizes his sin, he cannot be forgiven by his own strength, nor can he be given wealth. Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for all of this human sin by offering it once and for all.
