Sin and Punishment (Genesis 4:8-1)

The Bible says, “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer” (1 John 3:15). Jesus tells us that hating someone is not only a motive for murder, but it has already killed someone. Hate is the beginning of murder. If you look at it that way, it can be said that most of the people living on this earth have committed murder. This world is full of people who have committed murder.

In fact, there are many people in the world who are serving sentences for murder. The murders you see in newspapers and news almost every day are happening all over the world. The first murder of mankind can be found in the text of the text. The case of Cain and Abel suggests three causes of murder that are still taking place.

1. Uncontrolled anger

2. Unsurpassed Jealousy

One day, F.B. Meyer discovered that he had a jealousy in his heart for Spurgeon or Campbell Morgan. He prayed to God over the matter. Following the Lord's guidance, Mayer held a grand welcome ceremony at Campbell Morgan's hometown at her church. And I went to the church that Campbell Morgan served, and while listening to the sermon, I prayed, “God, I want this sermon to be a blessing to me.”

Meyer's biography (傳記) also contains this prayer. “God, wonderfully bless the churches of Morgan and Spurgeon, my friends. If those churches are full and there are surplus members, please send them to our church.”

3. Inappropriate Reaction to God

4. God’s Punishment on Cain

One). If Adam and Eve were the cause of his sin, how could he punish only Cain?

God’s punishment is on Cain, who has sinned and does not know how to repent. “If you plow, the ground will no longer give you its effect, and you will be a refugee and a wanderer in the land” (verse 12). It is the harshest punishment for the peasants who practice silver farming. God gave Cain a restless life as a punishment. God punished Cain, but he did not give up on him. But at this moment, Cain began to become crooked. I went away from God.

"You have cast me out of the face of the earth today, and I will not see you; I will be a refugee and a wanderer on the earth. Anyone who finds me will kill me... Cain will leave the presence of the LORD... ." (verses 14, 16)

God never declared to Cain that he could not see his face. Cain himself chose to leave God. Cain left the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod, east of Eden. When human beings cannot deal with their sin problem or solve their guilt, they turn their backs on God. Turn away from God's face and go to a place where God's voice cannot be heard.

Of course, there is a cause provided by Adam for Cain's sin, and there is also a cause for Eve. However, the ultimate responsibility for each sin rests with the party to the case. His parents are the result of the sins they have already suffered, and the punishment already included in their punishment is continuing.

2). Anyone who meets me will kill me.

What other people were there in those days besides Adam and Eve, besides Cain and Abel? This is the tricky part. So, when we call ourselves a different person, we see the potential of that other person as well. ① There must have been other brothers born to Adam. So I think they harbored a grudge and were afraid of him. And this is based on the premise that only necessary events and characters were recorded in the Bible. So, they must have married the daughters they gave birth to, but are their records missing? Interpretation ② I am in a position to interpret the events of Genesis 1 and 2 differently, but it seems that only Adam in Chapter 2 was given the Spirit of God, so the historical gap between Chapters 1 and 2 must have been considerable. So there must have been a lot of people living outside of Eden. That it must have been the fear of them

3). What does the table say? What is the ticket to avoid murder?

However, God made Cain wander to an unfamiliar land and gave him a ticket. People think that this mark is a sign of punishment for Cain. But that is a misunderstanding. Look at verse 15. “The Lord said to him, “No, whoever kills Cain will be punished sevenfold.” And he gave Cain a mark so that anyone he met would be spared the death of anyone he met.”

The mark that Cain received is a sign of love and a sign of grace. It is true that he sinned, and it is also true that he was punished by God. However, it was a declaration of God's grace that God's providence, love, and protection for Cain were still not over, giving him a special mark so that no one could harm him.

This is something that God and spiritual beings know and understand, as it is said later in the book of Revelation, “(Rev 7:4) I heard the number of those who were sealed, and forty-four thousand were sealed from every tribe of the children of Israel.” it will appear to be

Conclusion: Even though Cain was a murderer, God gave him grace. If we realize the love of God behind the punishment, it will not be that hard to confess and repent of our sins. If you depend on Jesus Christ, who loved me and was crucified, saying, “God, forgive me,” you can be saved. Are you heading towards the east of Eden, wandering endlessly without solving the problem of sin? Still do not give up on me, listen to God's voice calling me to come back, cling to that love and accept God's forgiveness. Live a new life in him with true peace and joy.
