Title: Sincere Faith

Text: Gen. 5:21-24, 2 Tim. 1:3-5

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). He says that “faith” is the condition that can please God the Creator, human beings. The words quoted from the book of Hebrews are a record of this fact. This applies to all of Abraham, the father of faith, as well as his ancestors and descendants. It was Abel who made the first human sacrifice to please God (Genesis 4:4-5). He says that the cause was because it was a sacrifice offered by faith (Hebrews 11:4). It is because the life of Enoch (Genesis 5:21-24), who was taken up into the kingdom of God without seeing death, also lived by faith (Hebrews 11:5). He says that the condition of ‘walking with God’ (Immanuel), the greatest grace on earth, is faith.

How precious is the faith that brings joy to God and rewards us? However, the more valuable it is, the more careful it should be. Because there are thieves and fakes. They are thieves of faith and false beliefs related to Satan's power. We must be wary of thieves of faith in our religious life. These are the words of the Lord in the parable of the sower. “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; and while people were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the grain and went away” (Matthew 13:24b-25). The weeds oversown by the enemy in this way hinder the growth and fruitage of good grains (Matthew 13:26-30). These are the words of the Lord in the parable of the good shepherd. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Faith without lies is the grace given through the Bible, the Word of God. “Therefore faith comes from hearing (reading), and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). ). The world we live in is an age in which the forces that hinder the work of grace are rampant. It shakes up and distances itself from the authority of the Bible's Word, and it is hampered by the false truths that fallen nature enjoys. It is the work of sowing the weeds of Paradise Lost, which urges humans as creatures to dare to become like God. Not only in the world or outside the church, but also the pulpit of the church.

All religious activities apart from the Word of God were in vain. The words of the old wise man. “If a man turns his ear away from hearing the law, his prayer is also detestable” (Proverbs 28:9). Prayer is the essence of religious life. The words of an old poet. “Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord, and meditates on it day and night” (Psalm 1:1-2). Whenever Jesus Christ, who was God and lived a human life, faced the great crises of life (baptism, temptation, change, passion), he supported his soul with the words of the Bible he learned (Luke 2:41-51?) You did. Not only in spiritual crises (1 Tim. 4:1-5; 2 Tim. 3:1-5), but also in everyday life, the Bible, the Word of God, is our way of life. It is a lamp (Psalm 119:105). “The Scriptures are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
