Title: Some Devoted Christians
Some dedicated Christians
This text is the last part of Paul's letter to Titus. As usual, Paul closes his letter by sharing his plans and greeting the believers. The text mentions a few people of devoted faith who have dynamically demonstrated what devotion is.
1, There was an unknown, dedicated worker named Ademara (v. 12), -.He was Paul's colleague. -.He was a co-worker who served under Paul, and he was a humble worker who served close by. His calling was to serve Christ.
He served Christ wherever he was, even under other ministers. -.He was such a dedicated worker that he was willing to go to other countries, and even to the toughest people. -.He was obviously a hard worker.
He was being sent out for ministry in Crete, the most difficult area. The citizens of Crete were the least reputed class in ancient society. “Whoever does not take up his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:27).
“Man ought to consider us workers of Christ and entrusters of the mysteries of God” (1 Corinthians 4:1), “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unshaken, always diligent in the work of the Lord. For you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
2, There was a dedicated worker named Tychicus (verse 12). In the text, there is no mention of him except that Tychicus could be sent as a minister for the Cretans on behalf of Titus. But Tychicus is mentioned throughout Paul's letters.
He was one of Paul's most faithful and trusted workers. -.He was commissioned by Paul as a messenger to the various churches (Ephesians 6:21ff.), -.He was tasked with delivering Paul's letters to the Ephesians, Colossians, and Philemons. (Ephesians 6:21-22, Colossians 4:7-8),
-.He was sent to Ephesus on a special mission (2 Timothy 4:12), -.He was to be sent to Crete to relieve Titus' burden (Titus 3:12),
-.He was not only Paul's beloved brother and faithful worker, but also a servant with him (Colossians 4:7),
3, There was a disciple named Titus who had power (verse 12), and the fact that Titus was a disciple who was appointed for the churches of Crete and left there shows that he was a strong disciple with extraordinary power.
Pioneer for Christ Titus was such a strong disciple in Christ that he could be the first to be sent to one area for Christ and to establish churches for Christ (Titus 1:5),
4, There were dedicated saints in three countries (verse 13), -.He was a teacher of teaching. -.He was a believer who truly trusted Christ as a Christian. -.He was a devoted Christian, and although he was only a teacher and not a full-time minister, he was devoted enough to deserve support from the church.
-.He was a Christian who volunteered to help and serve others. Paul even told Titus to come with Senna.
5, There was an evangelist called Apollos that the church needed (verse 13). Apollos was called to proclaim Christ and evangelize the lost. As soon as he learned the truth, his desire to preach Christ burned with fire.
The passion to go out into the world and preach the gospel for Christ burned in his heart. This was clearly the fire Paul needed in Nicopolis.
6, As believers, there were people who had to learn good things (verse 14). Paul called Crete believers “our people”. This is a very friendly term. In other translations it is expressed as:
“Indeed, let our people learn to dedicate ourselves to good deeds: honest work and honorable work. So that they can meet their needs whenever the situation demands it, and not lead a lazy, undeveloped, fruitless life.”
The point is that believers must work hard to earn money and then do good with that money. is that They must help the needy and help meet the needs of the world.
They should support people like Senna and Apollos who have given their lives and their time to serve Christ. They must financially support the preaching of the gospel worldwide.
7, There were co-workers who were servants of God (verse 15). Paul had some co-workers. They all greeted the believers in Crete and prayed for God's grace to come to them. This is what support and encouragement look like.
Please remember that nothing inspires and strengthens us in our more faithful service of Christ than the support of other believers. When things get difficult and trials overtake us one after another, what we really need is a word of support from our co-workers.
This is why we should always continue to support others. “You bear each other’s burdens. Thus fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2), “Pray for us. I am convinced that we have a good conscience, because in all things we seek to do good” (Hebrews 13:18).
Dear saints, It is said that God has blessed us enough to help others. If you cannot help with material things, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will be able to help with prayer.
