Title: Something more precious than money
something more precious than money
Text: 1 Timothy 6: 7-10
'For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it; for we have food and clothing, and that we are content. “The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, and those who covet it have erred from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”
Modern people have reached a stage where their love for money is idolizing money (mammonism). In 1 Timothy 3:1-4 it says, “Know this that in the last days the troubled times will come when people will love themselves, love money, boast, proud, slander, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, unholy, callous, and open minded. slanderer, unrestrained, ferocious, not fond of what is good, treacherous, hasty, arrogant, lover of pleasures greater than the love of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power of godliness, turn away from such people.”
People commit a lot of crimes for money. The relationship between money and humans is like the relationship between ships and water. Without water, a ship is useless, but when water enters a ship, the ship sinks in the water. Material is essential to us humans, but when that material dominates humans, we become like a shipwrecked ship, and hope disappears. That is why the Bible says, “The love of money is the root of all evil.” Even today, many people are deceived by the golden almighty and fall into the idea of monarchism that money can do anything. This kind of thinking ruins the country and the people and corrupts the church. There is a saying about money.
1) Money can buy a bed, but money cannot buy a sleep.
2) Money can buy books, but money cannot buy intelligence. Money can buy food, but money cannot buy appetite.
3) Money can buy a building, but money cannot buy a happy family.
4.) Money can buy medicine, but money cannot buy health.
5) Money can buy luxury, but money cannot buy culture.
6) Money can buy pleasure, but money cannot buy happiness.
7) Money can buy a golden plaything, but money cannot buy Jesus Christ.
That's right. There are many things that money cannot buy. Especially God, eternal life, heaven, and salvation can never be bought with money. God, the original owner of money, He alone is supreme.
Today, let's take a look at what is more precious and precious than money.

The famous Benjamin Franklin once owned a bookstore as a young man. One day, a customer came in and asked for a price after choosing a book from among many. The book had a list price. Nevertheless, the guest asked, “How much is this book?” Franklin answered precisely, “One dollar.” This guest said again. “Can’t we get a little cheaper? Let’s cut the price a little.” Franklin answered. “Then it’s 1 dollar and 15 cents.” “No, where is the law asking for more for a shave?” Franklin smiled again and said: “Now, the price of the book is $1,50.” Each time this customer asked for a reduction, the price of the book went up. Franklin said to the guest:
“Time is more precious than money. The price of the book is $1, but I wasted my time by saying useless words, so the price of the book is no longer but expensive.”
Time is more precious than money. Money can be regained even if it is lost, but lost time cannot be regained. No matter how hard we try, we cannot turn back the years that have passed. Time is out of my control. Save time.
Time is an opportunity. In Matthew 19:22 it says, “When the young man heard these words, he went away grieved because he had great wealth.” In other words, the rich young man missed the opportunity to become a disciple of Jesus because of money. Hell is a chance to believe in Jesus, a chance to repent. It is said that it is a place where those who missed the opportunity by burying their entrusted talents go. Let's not waste the precious time the Lord has given us.
2. Health
* Proverb: Health is the most precious of all possessions. A poor shoe shiner is better than a sick king
There is a saying, “To lose money is to lose a little; to lose honor is to lose a lot; to lose health is to lose everything.”
3. Beauty (Beauty)
* Proverb: 0 Beauty is better than wealth. (Sadi)
0 Beauty is stronger than a bull. (Herbert)
4. Wisdom
“Wisdom is more precious than pearls, and all your longings cannot compare with it” (Proverbs 3:15).
“How much better to obtain wisdom than to obtain gold, and to obtain understanding than to obtain silver” (Proverbs 16:16).
When Solomon asked for wisdom, God also gave him wealth and honor.
5, parents, siblings, spouse, friends
“Honor your father and mother, that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12).
“Husbands, dwell with your wives in the same way according to knowledge, and honor them, knowing that they are weaker vessels and one who will also inherit the grace of life” (1 Peter 3:7).
How great is the sacrifice and grace of parents? How can you compare it to money? And how precious is your family? Also, aren't friends indescribably precious?
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
6. Honor
I have asked this question to many students. If you had to give up one of the four things: money, fame, health, and parents and siblings, what would it be? However, many students answered that they would give up their honor. There were even many students who said they would abandon their parents or siblings. Surprisingly, however, few students answered that they would throw away their health or money.
“Honor is more precious than much wealth, and respect is better than gold and silver” (Proverbs 22:1).
7. Freedom
The Lord came to give us freedom. In the meantime, we have been enslaved to the rulers of the world and to sin, the law, and death.
“Christ has set us free, so stand firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).
'The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners' Isaiah 61:1) How precious is the freedom the Lord has given you?
'Give me freedom or death!'
These were the last words of Patrick Henry in his speech at an illegal popular convention in Richmond, when the Virginia Congress was dissolved in March 1775. His speech made a huge impact at the time, sparking a revolution against Britain, which was trying to control the discontent of the American people by force. At the time, Henry was a 39-year-old lawyer who was a member of the Virginia Colonial Council and was considered one of the greatest orators of his time. During the American Revolutionary War, he served as commander-in-chief of the Virginia Militia and governor of Virginia. After independence, he was offered the post of secretary of state by President George Washington, but declined and served four terms as governor of his hometown of Virginia. He is also credited with the adoption of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution. Freedom is more precious than money, more precious than life.
