Title: Son of Man Who Revealed Glory
Content Hymn / 96, 99
Introduction
Dear saint! Mark 9:1-13 records that Elijah appeared to them with Moses and was talking with Jesus. From people, Jesus hid his true self. He did not show his glory to his disciples except for the three chief disciples, but he revealed it only to Peter James and John.
First: Transfiguration (Mark 9:1-9).
Jesus is the key figure in the kingdom of God. The reign of God is the core concept of the kingdom of heaven, and Jesus is entrusted with the rule of the Father and will sit on the throne of power to judge and rule over all the people. It will be accomplished at the time of Jesus' second coming, but he showed Jesus' power and glory in advance on the Mount of Transfiguration. The light of the glory of Jesus changed the color of the clothes, making them shiny white. The disciples also saw Moses, the messenger of the law, and Elijah, the representative of the Old Testament prophets appearing and talking with Jesus. In front of the light of the glory of Jesus, they could not find anything to fear, so they talked about making three huts and staying there. Have you ever been so afraid that your legs trembled, you couldn't speak, and it felt like your brain stopped spinning? As we stand before the throne of glory, we are gripped with a heart-stopping awe. The heavenly proclamation, “This is my beloved Son,” is reminiscent of Psalm 2:7, which is sung at the time of his accession to the throne. Do you believe that Jesus is the King of glory?
Second: The secrecy command (Mark 9:10-13).
When he came down from the mountain, he gave the commandment that he should not tell anyone what he had seen until he had risen from the dead. The disciples who heard the glory of Jesus and the voice of heaven could not understand what Jesus said that He had to rise from the dead. I did not understand how such a glorious person could die. So the scribes at the time asked about teaching the words of 4:5-6 that Elijah must come before the Messiah comes. Jesus answered that John the Baptist came before Jesus on the mission of Elijah. Assuming you had the experience of the Mount of Transfiguration, how would you have acted if you had received the commandment of Jesus? To what extent are you motivated to share the gospel?
conclusion
Dear saint! The glory of Jesus was a secret that should not be spread without going through the process of suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection. But today it must be preached to the ends of the earth. -Amen-
