A song of peace 1997.12.7.
Text: Luke 2:13-14
Suddenly a large army of heaven appeared with the angel, praising God and speaking. "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those with whom you are pleased."
Why did Jesus come to this earth? Now, what's written there? accepting peace. Ok. Jesus came to bring peace. In this world, wars continue, we fight each other for more, we hate each other, and we fear that we will die, but Jesus came to this earth to give us peace. He gave love to those who hate and fight, and promised the kingdom of God to those who fear death. And he listened to the concerns of those who were full of worries and anxieties and gave peace to their hearts. And to bring this good news to us, he told us to spread peace to the people. Just like Bi-dol and Bi-soon forgave and loved the gangster who interrupted, harassed, and hated him. Our friends, like Bidol and Bisooni, should forgive their friends and let them know that God came to this earth for them and that He loves them.
Looking at the Bible today, what kind of song did you hear when Jesus was born? I don't know the sound well, but only the lyrics appear, but this was the first Christmas carol sung.
Carols are songs that people who believe in Jesus sing joyfully every season (feast). Carol's content must contain both.
First, it should contain lyrics that glorify God, that is, content that pleases God and our joyful hearts. By the way, how about the Christmas carols coming out these days? Tell us about a Christmas carol that our friends know. who is the protagonist Santa, gifts, having fun, snow, etc.. Our joyful hearts appear, but there are few lyrics that glorify God. So, most of my non-believers, and many of my friends who go to church, know that Christmas is just a fun, exciting and gift-giving day.
Of course, God likes us to sing and have fun, but He is not pleased with only singing such carols. God loved us and sent his one and only son for us, but we can say that we are only having fun. The main character of Christmas is not us, but Jesus who came to this earth for us. So, from now on, I should sing uplifting carols, but rather than sing those carols that let them know that Jesus is the one who came to bring peace to this earth.
That way, friends who do not believe in Jesus can know what day Christmas is. I hope our friends will sing Christmas carols like angels and spread the love of Jesus to their friends.
