Title: Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation
Ephesians 1:17-23 ‘17. 19. What is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, as the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know God ... 19. I beg you to make it known...'- Amen.
In the Old Testament era, very few people were selected and moved by the Holy Spirit to convey God's word, that is, God's will. The New Testament is about hearing and seeing what Jesus himself said and worked (Acts 4:20). ) Through the written Bible, all church communities receive revelation at the same time, and what is special is the fact that, unlike the Old Testament, the New Testament is with the Holy Spirit and works with all believers (Acts 2:18, Joel 2:29).
1. For a relationship with God
Paul summarizes four things that need to be opened to the eyes of our hearts when we receive the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.
1) Make God known (17)
2) About true hope (18)
3) About the company that the saints will receive (18)
4) The great powers that God gives (19)
Knowing God is not simple knowledge, it is a completely new knowledge.
Colossians 3:10 “Having put on the new man … renewing even in knowledge…”
1 Corinthians 2:10-11 'The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. '
The original way to become a filial piety is to practice filial piety when you know your parents properly. That is why, after leaving home and becoming a parent, it is because there is no realization in advance. Children who know early do filial piety in advance. The saints are too.
2. How do you receive the inspiration of the Holy Spirit?
Even if you already know the Bible, you need the influence of the Holy Spirit to work. How can you become the spirit of a living saint?
1) Understanding the Bible
Luke 24:32 "...were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us and opened the scriptures to us..."
Romans 10:17 “… Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”
2) In a life of obedience to the Word
Psalm 119:71 “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.”
Acts 5:32 “We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, which God has given to those who obey him.”
3) by prayer
Luke 11:13 ‘…your heavenly Father will not give the Holy Spirit to those who ask…’ (Acts 1: The apostles prayed for ten days and were filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost)
4) When you repent
Acts 2:38 “…Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
The complete religious life of the saints does not consist of coming and going to worship on a set day, participating in events, and singing hymns as in all religions. Very secretive and quiet. All the saints themselves receive the senses of the Holy Spirit and must be sensible in Jesus according to the Spirit of Wisdom. Only then will we be able to win all the challenges of the world.
As shown in verse 20 of the main text, the whole world is to be the church-centered ground where the saints do control the world spiritually and practically, so it must be supported by the perception and power of the Holy Spirit.
Zechariah 4:6 “… This is not by strength, not by might, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.”
I believe that we should become the ones who overcome the world with the inspiration of the Lord without consulting because we have the light of the Holy Spirit, the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
