Title: Spiritual Blindness/Isaiah 29:1-24
Contents Bible Reading: 29:1-24
Subject: Spiritual blindness
Israel has fallen into a spiritual numbness with moral corruption and pride, and is calling upon God's discipline.
1. The cause of spiritual ignorance (9-10)-Spiritual ignorance stems from the severance of love and interest in God.
Spiritual ignorance is due to sloth and pride. (Isa 29:9-10) “Their staggering was not because of strong drink.
For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep and has closed your eyes.”
Spiritual insensitivity leads to spiritual death in which we cannot discern the truth of God.
If you fall into spiritual ignorance, you will love darkness more than light (John 3:19) And this is the condemnation, that is, light
came into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
The eyes that see the vision of God will be darkened and you will be put to shame.
2. Spiritual ignorance of not seeing the apocalypse (11-12)
‘Therefore, all revelations are to you like the words of a sealed book.’ It is like being unable to read the text of a sealed book.
Spiritual ignorance makes the learned and the ignorant alike fail to realize.
This is because the truth of God comes from seeing and thinking with your heart, and it is not because you simply read and listen to the Word in writing.
(1 Corinthians 2:14) Natural people do not receive the things of the Spirit of God, which to them are foolishness, and they do not understand them, for these things are discerned only spiritually.
3. Consequences of spiritual ignorance
If you fall into spiritual ignorance, you will reject the truth of God and even forget that you are a child of God. Furthermore, they fall into the guide of Satan who opposes God. The consequences of spiritual ignorance are disastrous. Those who do not wake up when the Lord comes again cannot receive the Lord who comes like a thief.
4. Even on the completely destroyed ruins, if you have hope for recovery, you can overcome that environment. The only sure way is God's promise. Since God's promise is a sure way to overcome all despair, the believers under His promise should never despair or give up under any circumstances.
5. God restores the people.
1) The ears of the deaf and the eyes of the blind are restored.
2) Joy abounds to the humble and the needy.
3) The chosen people will enjoy happiness.
God's purpose is our happiness.
