Title: Spiritual Calculation
Contents
Text: John 6:1-2
Today is Thanksgiving Day (11/19). Looking back on the year, it is necessary to calculate whether we have lived a useful life or an unprofitable life as a child of God. Just as there are addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (×), and division (÷) in mathematics, the same is true in the spiritual sense. Let's calculate.
1. plus
“Therefore, put on mercy, mercy, humility, gentleness, and long-suffering, as God’s chosen, holy and beloved ones, and tolerating one another and forgiving one another if anyone accuses anyone, just as the Lord has forgiven you, so also you. Add love above all things, which is the perfect bond” (Colossians 3:12-14).
Do you have problems at home, in your marriage, or in your relationships? This is because love is gone. Love and buy.
Philip II of Spain was a man who thoroughly suppressed the Reformation. The soldiers, who were ordered by the king, mercilessly arrested the Protestants and dragged them away. It was winter one year. A Protestant who was being chased by a soldier crossed a lake. Fortunately, the entire lake was frozen, so I was able to escape by treading carefully on it. As I was running away for a while, I heard the sound of breaking ice behind me. When the young man turned around, the soldier following him was falling into the broken ice. Seeing this, the young man hesitated for a moment, then reached out his hand and pulled him up. The soldier who saved his life through the young man asked "Why? Did you save me?” Then the young man replied: “Because the Lord said to love.”
Dear saints, Please remember that the cross of Jesus is an addition.
2. Subtract
“Therefore, putting away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander” (1 Peter 2:1).
We must put away bitterness, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slanderous speech, and put away the things that should be thrown away. Especially in the church community, we need to get rid of the useless words of others.
There were two siblings who lost their parents during the Korean War.
At a time when there was nothing to eat, my brother contracted lung disease and could not afford to receive treatment. In order to save his one and only brother, my sister worked in the US Army and sold her body to earn money. However, one of the members of the church who found out about this made a mistake by making fun of the snout, and the whole church came to know about it, and eventually, even my brother became known about it. Upon learning of this, the older brother lost his will to live and committed suicide by taking pesticides. My sister, who had lived for her one and only brother, was devastated and drank pesticides and died next to her brother.
When adding and subtracting, the calculation is correct, but when adding and subtracting, adding when subtracting, the calculation cannot be correct. In order to have a good life of faith, you must be good at calculations. However, it is not enough for Christians to be good at addition and subtraction. There is one more thing, but you have to be good at giving (devotion, loyalty).
3. give
According to 1 Kings 17:1-16, when the widow of Sarepta ran out of food for many years, she gave Elijah, the servant of God, the last handful of wheat and a loaf of bread made with a little oil. Blessed.
Also, in John 6:1-12, a young child offered five bowls of fish to Jesus. After Jesus prayed for blessing and shared them, an amazing miracle occurred, where 5,000 people ate and there were 12 baskets left.
Than addition, more than subtraction
If you are good at giving (giving), it is more profitable than multiplying.
I hope that you will become pastoral saints who know how to add when adding and subtract when subtracting.
