Title: Spiritual Liberation
Romans 8:1-2'1. Therefore now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death' - Amen.
Today marks the 65th anniversary of liberation on August 15, 1945, after the end of 36 years of Japanese rule. In the Old Testament era, after 430 years of slavery in Egypt, Israel received the miracle of the Exodus and kept the Passover, a celebration of liberation.
American revolutionary Patrick Henry (1775) cried out for political freedom, and in his speech he said, “Give me liberty, or give me liberty or death. However, it cannot be concluded that a person will be happy just because he or she is free from political oppression or environmental factors and has an affluent life.
The word liberation, ejleuqerovw, means free from the status of a sinner and free. I would like to share the word of <Spiritual Liberation>, a gift from God who wants to give us true freedom of the soul.
1. Sinful self-discovery comes first
No one can realize for himself that all human beings are sinners. The Bible says that sin is not a social and moral remorse, but the word sin hamaltia (aJmartiva) is against God's law. Therefore, life apart from God and everything that is not perfect even as a believer becomes sin.
While Paul, a Jewish lawyer, was passing through the Damascus road while he was going to arrest Christians and put them in prison, the Lord, who ascended into heaven, appeared in the air around noon (Acts 22:6), appeared in a light brighter than the sunlight, and called him.
After that, he devoted his life to becoming a Holy Spirit-filled apostle, performing many miracles. But when he was writing for his brothers in Rome, in chapter 7 of the very preceding chapter, he saw that sin still lives and fears God, but sin dwells in the flesh, oh! What a wretched man! and I was in agony.
That's it. Reveal your honest self like Paul, Lord, save me. Only in this way will you receive continued grace.
John 9:41 "Jesus said to him, "If you had been blind, you would have no sin; but if you say you can see, your sins are still there."
1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
It is true that even if you believe in Jesus, you will still sin and will always sin.
James 4:9 “Mourn and mourn and weep; turn your laughter into mourning, and your joy into sorrow.”
2. True liberation comes only in Jesus Christ
There are many places to meditate in cities these days, whether people rely on cultural factors or capitalize to make themselves feel comfortable. However, the sinful heart of life cannot be solved with such things. You have to meet Jesus Christ and you can get it only in Christ.
Text, Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.”
3. You must be guided by the Holy Spirit
The experience of grace is not enough with past experiences alone. According to the Bible, a new person is created through regeneration and becomes a child of God, but even a new self commits sins while living in the flesh, so to receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we must earnestly every day.
Galatians 5:16 “I tell you, walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
Although we have the status of children of God through faith in the Lord Jesus, we must be led by the Holy Spirit in order for the peace of God to dwell in us and to overcome all challenges. The Holy Spirit guides us into the truth and makes us triumphant with the truth.
In verse 2 of the text, it is expressed as the law of the Spirit of life, but the law is not salvation to hold people down and to talk about the traditions of the denomination.
Galatians 5:1 Do not forget the precept, 'Christ set us free, therefore, stand firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery'. I am sure that the Lord will be on our side and make us a witness in the grace of strengthening us and all things go well as our souls prosper.
