Spiritual Worship/Romans 12:1-2
The book of Romans is the epistle of the Bible that clearly testifies to the gospel of Christ among Paul's writings. The main theme of this epistle is by what makes man righteous? to be. The answer to that is that we are justified by faith alone, as we know well. It is testifying that there is no other way than to believe in Jesus Christ, who is the fulfillment of all laws, as the Son of God and our Savior. And the text is now talking about the spiritual worship offered by the New Testament saints who have been justified by faith. This speaks about the new sacrifice, the spiritual sacrifice, with the ceremonial sacrifice under the Old Testament law in mind.
In the Old Testament, the sacrifices offered by Adam's sons Cain and Abel were first mentioned, and after that, Noah offered sacrifices, Abraham and the patriarchs offered them, and as stipulated by the Ten Commandments and the Law given through Moses, the sanctuary located on the hill of Mount Zion in Jerusalem. It was maintained for a long time under the supervision of the priests in Manchuria. Of course, later, the Samaritans offered a separate sacrifice on Mount Gerizim in Samaria, but the most authentic sanctuary in the Old Testament is the Jerusalem Temple. But Jesus said to the woman at the well in Samaria that the time is coming when those who will worship in the future will worship neither in Jerusalem nor on a separate mountain, but in spirit and truth. speak
So, what is spiritual worship?
1. It refers to the living sacrifice offered in the body. To offer a living sacrifice in the body means that all the sacrifices in the Old Testament were sacrifices to kill animals, so we no longer need the blood of animals, but worship through faith in the atoning atonement that Jesus performed. It refers to holistic worship. The spirit of our spiritual worship is well expressed in the words to do it for the glory of God, whether we eat or drink or whatever we do.
Simply put, the good life itself that the Lord is pleased with through our five organs is a true evangelism. Of course, public worship on Sundays is also an important worship service, but an act limited to worship on a specific day or time without breaking the worshiper's attitude is not the true attitude of a worshiper that the Lord requires.
2. And spiritual worshipers do not imitate this generation but change their hearts and live by discerning what is pleasing, good, and perfect will of God.
Faith should never go with the waves of the world. Just as a fleshy fish moves up against a flowing river, a living faith resolutely rejects the flow of the fallen times and has a change of heart, only to discern what pleases the Lord in heaven and always strive to live according to its will. to be.
Let's remember that today's true worship transcends races and places, that anyone who believes in Jesus as Savior wants to live a life of holistic worship that gives thanks to God and glorifies Him.
