Title: Spirituality of the Saints
2010.9.26 Sunday morning service sermon
1 Corinthians 2:11-16 ‘11. Who knows the things of a man except the spirit that is within him? In the same way, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Who can teach the Lord, knowing the heart of the Lord, but we have the mind of Christ.' - Amen.
Korean Church The recent rise of Christian ideology is so-called spiritual training, and gatherings and seminars are being held mainly for mystical experiences. The problem is not the biblical spiritual training, but the mysticism and psychologicalism, which has no basis for the truth of the Bible, is effectively expressed as Christian thought. I am trying to ponder the words about the true <spirituality of the saints>.
1. Biblical insight is correct spirituality
To understand history and things, there is a framework of understanding and value ideology. It depends on what kind of preconceived notion you are trying to understand. Human understanding is called Eastern philosophy when it comes from the East, and Western philosophy when it comes from the West. The problem is, we have to remember that the mind of a pure person is not normal.
Romans 3:4 “It cannot be so. All men are false, but God is true.” To be saved by believing in Jesus, along with eternal life, is to change the value ideology you had in the world and change your perspective. In fact, it is the restoration of insight to live according to the nature God originally created.
Text, 1 Corinthians 2:11-12 ‘11. Who knows the things of men except the spirit that is within them? In the same way, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12. We did not receive the spirit of the world, but we received the Spirit that is from God, so that we that we might know the things that He has given us by grace.”
2. Be inspired by truth, not human emotions
Heretics who fall into mysticism like to prophesy according to their own feelings, often curse according to human sinfulness, and often say things that are good at thinking about curses. Heretics mainly frighten believers or drive them into fear as if they were acting on behalf of God's judgment. But the inspiration of truth is given with gracious admonition in peace.
Text, 1 Corinthians 2:13 “We are speaking these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but by the Holy Spirit, so that spiritual things are discerned.”
We have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and we have been taught many times in the Bible that we must be led by the Holy Spirit. When we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we must not forget that the most important thing is that the senses are saved according to the truth.
John 16:13 “But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
3. The expression of life must be Christlike
Text, 1 Corinthians 2:16 'Who knows the heart of the Lord and can teach the Lord? But we have the mind of Christ.' His name is Jew, and he boasts of his father Abraham, and treats other Gentiles with no respect. The Jews, who were regarded as human beings, eventually perished.
Even when the 7 deacons of the early church were selected, in Acts 6:3, those who were praised were chosen, and Timothy and Cornelius were all praised (Acts 16:2, 10:22). Romans 14:18 'Those who serve Christ in this way praise God. It pleases and is praised by men.”
When appointing church leaders, we do not only recognize certain specific church groups, but
1 Timothy 3:7 “You must also have a good testimony from outsiders, lest you fall into slander and the snare of the devil.”
No matter how much you testify of how much grace you have received and how you try to express your beliefs by talking about yourself, these are words that you say with your mouth, and only your actions in life must follow. The Bible rebukes the vain boasting of Jews bound by tradition.
We believe that when we empathize with the life of Christ in our body, we will surely live a victorious life and become happy. It doesn't really matter what kind of church you go to, and I believe that salvation and grace will come if you look to the Lord and live the life the Lord wants. A saint of right spirituality sees the results of all faith in the attitude and behavior of this life that resembles the Lord.
What is the use of knowing and receiving grace if you do not do it? What inspirational revelation story is of no use without action? That's just an excuse for something worse than superstition. I pray that you and I will show grace by living according to the Bible by following the heart of Christ.
