Title: Standing in God's Court Text: Isaiah 1:2-9
The meaning of the name ‘Isaiah’ is ‘Jehovah is salvation.’ His parents hoped for the salvation of their country and named their son 'Isaiah'. Knowing that no country in the world, no one in the world can save their country or people, they look only to the Lord and have hope of salvation for their country and people, and renamed his son, 'Jehovah is salvation.' It means Isaiah. The background of this text is the court of God. Now, despite the destruction of the northern kingdom of Israel, God has placed them in the court of God and is prosecuting them according to the trial procedure for the southern kingdom of Judah, who has not repented and is still living a life full of sins. If you stood before God's court now, what kind of judgment would you receive? Will you be found innocent? Or would you like to get the maximum sentence in court? Through the words of today's text, I encourage you to judge yourself.
1. There are sure witnesses in God's court.
2. All sins are heard in God's court.
3. The result of being disconnected from God is disastrous.
In verses 5-8, the whole head was sick, the whole heart was weary, and the whole body was broken and torn. And their land was desolate, and their cities burned, and everything was taken to the Gentiles. This is the result of Israel's sin. Sin brings us under the curse. Disconnection from God devastates our spirit and body.
4. Why did God put them in court?
No other country in the world has ever been set up by God in God's court like this. However, only the Israelites were brought before God's court. It is to realize their sins and lead them to the place of repentance. Although Israel is inferior to an animal, God still calls them “my children” and “my people.” Even at this time, God is reaching out his hand of love to me, who has always betrayed God, lived according to my own will, lived by my own will, and lived without knowing the Lord, who is worse than an animal. You are giving a special love. He calls them “my children” and “my people.” Because of that love, I can worship God right here right now.
