Title: Steward's Faith
Contents
Text: Luke 12:42-48
People's duty and duty is to love God and love their neighbors. (Mt 22:37~40) Material and money replace God, and to love only convenient riches in life more than God, who gives eternal life. It is one of the phenomena of the last days. That's why the Apostle Paul said, "We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it, so that if we have food and clothing, we will be content with it" (1 Timothy 6:7).
Dear saints, Let's own the material. However, please do not be dominated by materials and use them for good. Don't put your hope in material things, but hope in the kingdom of God. Let's not sin because of material things and live godly
According to the Bible, a steward must have the faith of obedience, sacrifice and martyrdom.
Abraham's cup of blessing overflowed. They became the ancestors of Israel, the fathers of faith, and the ancestors of blessings. David also confesses in Psalm 23:5, “My cup overflows.” what cup is it? These are the ‘cup of grace’, ‘cup of blessing’, and ‘cup of health’. I pray that this cup overflows to all of you, dear saints.
1. What is Stewardship?
‘The Steward’s Faith’ is the title of today’s sermon.
A ‘steward’ is a servant. Ancient slaves are either sold for money, taken prisoner of war, sinned or born as a slave's child. However, among servants, a servant who is especially recognized by his master and given more responsibility for managing his master's things is called a 'steward'.
In Genesis 39, Joseph, Abraham's great-grandson, was also sold as a slave to the Egyptian general Potiphar's house. He was so sincere, and seeing God's help, he made Joseph the head of the household, elevated his position and made him a steward, and made him a deacon and took care of everything in his house.
A servant who held this office was called a steward. It is a position in which even the same (and many other) species are presided over. However, the status is still that of a servant. (Luke 12:43) Therefore, a steward (Luke 12:42) must be ① wiser, ② truthful, and ③ obey the master's orders than other servants.
In Matthew 20:8, there is an example of obeying a command, which refers to obedience where there is no right or wrong judgment or one's own opinion when following a command.
The background of today's word about stewards is the word Jesus gave to us who are living in the last days after Jesus spoke of the awakening of the saints waiting for the Second Coming in the last days. If you are faithful as a steward, the servant and the steward will be blessed when the Lord, the master, comes, and the master entrusts all his possessions to the servant. ‘Owning’ here is different from before. Previous possessions were difficult and difficult due to ‘work’ and ‘mission’, but possession here means ‘advanced’, ‘crown’ and ‘blessing’.
2. As stewards of Jesus, there are four things we must do.
The first is prayer. Candidates for deacons are one month, and candidates for deacons are two months. Although early morning prayer is difficult, if you obey and train, the spirit will live.
The second is love. It covers a multitude of sins, and you should never speak loudly in the church. God hates when there are sounds other than prayers, songs, greetings, and laughter.
Third, hospitality. At the Gyeonggi Banquet, there were rumors that the Mokyang Church served well and the food was delicious. We do it every time we do it at our church. Let's try to treat each other.
The last thing we do is serve. There are lazy stewards like “good stewards,” and there are bad stewards.
I pray that all the members of the shepherd will be good stewards in the sight of the Lord.
