Title: Stop, And Know That I Am God

Stop, and know that I am God (1)

Text/ Psalm 46:1-10

1. Introduction

The president has fired the defense minister and is trying to rectify the public sentiment, but we are all uneasy about the possibility that the North Korean military may provoke sporadic local warfare anywhere, anytime on the Korean Peninsula.

2. The situation of Psalm 46

The text does not mention a specific historical event, but it is thought that it was one of the numerous war situations that the Israelites had historically fought with the neighboring nations of Canaan, Syria, Damascus, Assyria, and Babylon. The text is large and small, but it is like the extreme fear-fear-anxiety of those who have met “War!” “The earth changes, the mountains shake and fall into the sea, and the seawater roars and roars, and it is like a mountain tossing with overflow! This is what He said (Psalm 46:1-3).

Not to mention the hearts of civilians and soldiers in Yeonpyeong Island who were bombarded by North Korean forces indiscriminately, and all the people of the Republic of Korea who heard this news felt the fear and fear as if the land had changed and the seawater was abusive and overflowing. “Grandpa, where are you? War broke out! Grandpa, what if we can't meet, come quickly!" The fear of a five-year-old child who said, “It was our fear. No is it?

To those who are faced with such a terrible war, the psalmist proclaims Psalm 46:10 in just one word.

Be still and know that I am God (KJV)

Stop ye, know that I am God

爾當休息 當知惟我爲上帝

Let be then:learn that I am God, high over the nations, high above earth.

Be still, and know that I am God (NIV)

3. What does “Stop, and know that I am God” mean?

first. This is the premise that it is natural for anyone to be in a state of panic due to extreme fear and fear in an actual war situation, such as when the earth shakes and the seawater is violent and the mountains tremble when the water overflows. However, you who believe nevertheless say, “Stop = be still = 爾當休息 (remaining still   be sure to breathe slowly) = Let be then (stay calm) = Be still (Nevertheless be still   be still) do it. And I want you to know that I am God.

(1) When the hearts of the people became like a forest shaken by the wind due to war, Isaiah said, “If you do not believe, you will surely not stand firm” (Isaiah 7:1-9).

(2) Elijah said, “The Lord was not in the midst of a great and strong wind a great earthquake a great fire, and after the fire there was a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).

(3) Jesus said to the storm, ‘Be still, be still!’ Then he said to his disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? How can you have no faith?’ (Mark 4:35-41)” he said. These are the words that share the ark with all these words.

second. The way to live out of a state of extreme panic is to “pause, breathe slowly, and be silent in the stillness” so that you can face the situation and ask God for a way to overcome the threat of death you are facing now. Whether spiritual or physical salvation, salvation is not a one-way miracle of God. Salvation is the result of a two-way passage between God and man.

Tired of fear and fear, “Save people!” It is not prayer. It's just the cry of the beast caught in the trap. Prayer is to be conscious of God, to look at God, and to talk with God through one's own volitional consciousness, even though there is no fear. In other words, man earnestly seeks salvation from God, and God answers man's earnest prayer and pours out God's power - wisdom - vitality - power - grace to obtain salvation from the seat of death.

Therefore, in order to make room for prayer to God, we must first face the fear and fear of death, crying with tears of blood even forcibly help me in my unbelief. That confrontation is stillness, stillness, restoration of equanimity, silence, and stillness.

third. How could the North Korean military indiscriminately bombard Yeonpyeong? So is the existential livelihood of each of us. Although not bombarded, many people in their lives wander-pain-depression-depression-suicide-and even commit suicide in life's hardships, such as when the land shakes, the seawater is violent, and the mountains tremble when it overflows. First, stop and know that you are the God of God.

Stop, and know that I am God (2)

Text/ Psalm 46:1-10

1. Introduction

Today we read, “Stop, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10), “What does it mean to know that I am God?” We would like to share the grace while meditating on the problems we are facing.

2. Feeling-experiencing-knowing that God is God is different for each person.

Human beings are of 十人十色 white white thousands of thousands of colors everything. Each person has different personality-emotions-ideological tendency-national view-values-life view-history view-religion view-interest-food-hobbies-health condition-social and economic environment. The intensity and expression method of each person's feelings of the four emotions: pity, shame, discernment between right and wrong, yielding, joy, anger, sadness, hatred, fear, love, and desire. are all different too.

In the Bible, everywhere he says, “I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Exodus 3:6, 4:5, Matthew 22:32, Mark 12:26, Acts 3:13)” You can see the word. Why did he not end with “I am the God of your fathers” but “the God of Abraham - the God of Isaac - the God of Jacob”? The word here is not that the God of Abraham was different, the God of Isaac was different, and the God of Jacob was different, but that God is one God, and that meeting, feeling, experiencing, and knowing that God was a little different for each person. that was emphasized. In other words, Abraham referred to God as “the Shield of Abraham” (Genesis 15:1), Isaac referred to God as “the Fear of Isaac” (Genesis 31:42), and Jacob as “the Fear of Isaac” (Genesis 31:42). It means that they felt and experienced God as “my Almighty the Mighty One of Jacob” (Genesis 49:24).

Also, in the Bible, each person (or community of faith) confesses in various ways how he saw, felt, experienced, realized, and knew God's being God and His presence in his or her concrete life.

3. How do people know that God is God?

first. Man can know that God is God by looking at the heavens and the earth.廣漠 (the vast) universe (the macro world - the mysterious movement of the celestial bodies - the beauty of nature created by the green planet Earth) and the microscopic world - the world of invisible microbes -When we see the secret world of atoms, protons, and neutrons), and the mysteries of all living things, including humans, we cannot help being conscious of God's being God.

second. Human beings are biologically limited beings who live with indescribably many sins, living and dying biologically - suffering and stress psychologically - socially and economically, ideological conflicts, class struggles, wars, and endless competition - spiritually.
