Title: Strong Faith (Romans 04:18-22)
Content: What do you most need right now? If you ask me, I'll give you different answers, right? Each person will talk about his or her own needs, such as health, family harmony, marriage partner, job or promotion at work. By the way, God's Word says that everyone needs something, but this is what we need the most. What is it? your belief. Why? Because faith is the most fundamental need. What the Bible reveals about faith is that it is the key to fundamentally solving all problems and being able to solve them.
So today, those who want to live for the glory of God by examining what kind of faith Abraham was able to solve the fundamental problems of his life through Abraham, the father of faith, and those who want to live a truly strong life. wants to think about what kind of beliefs we should live with.
In verse 20, we can say that Abraham's faith was a solid faith by saying, 'Being firm in the faith'. In other words
1. What is solid faith?
1) Faith that hopes and believes in the midst of hopelessness. (Verse 18) What did Abraham hope and believe? Verse 18 says that he was over a hundred years old and believed the promise, 'So shall your descendants be.' In Genesis 22:17, God promised to give him many descendants 'as the stars in the sky, as the sand on the seashore'. When he received this promise, he said that he did not doubt by faith, 'knowing that Sarah's womb was dead' (verse 19). It was a blessing that could never be hoped for. How can a 100-year-old couple, who are humanly unable to have children, hope for a son? However, Abraham did not look only at himself, but looked at God who had supernatural powers and was convinced. (Genesis 15:6) Strong faith is not just looking at the reality and feeling discouraged, discouraged, or doubting, but it is a faith that fully believes in God the powerful and the Creator Jehovah.
2) It is the faith that does not doubt the promise. (Verse 20) Abraham received three great promises from God. 1) It is the 'promise of the source of blessing' that reveals that all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. (Genesis 12:1-3) 2) In verse 17 of the main text, it is the promise to become 'the father of many nations'...
