Title: Take the Power of Faith
Contents
Numerous characters in the Bible all lived according to the principle of faith. Faith is the power of strength that you take by faith and enjoy in faith. When he discovered and realized this law of faith, Abraham had no choice but to face a turning point in his life when he left that place even at the age of 75. Jesus also found faith in people, praised their faith, and performed miracles according to their faith. Therefore, for believers, faith is like life. When we live according to the principles and laws of faith, we can overcome difficulties, transcend our destiny, and live beyond our own limitations and times. In today's text, Joshua met the city of Jericho and overcame it by faith. Let's look at the method of faith Joshua took to take the city of Jericho.
First, the method of faith Joshua took was the presence of God.
The fall of Jericho was not due to human effort. The ark of the covenant of God was destroyed only by the method of faith. The ark of the covenant symbolizes the presence of God. The reason they experienced their victory was because they trusted and looked to God and went forward. The Ark of the Covenant was a sign of total trust in God in conquering the city of Jericho. When we hold on to God more than anything in the world, we hold on to the most precious thing.
Second, the method of faith Joshua took was obedience.
Verse 3 “All your soldiers go around the city once a day, and do it for six days.” God's plan was simple. It was to go around the castle once a day for 6 days, and on the last day to go around it 7 times. However, this operation was very difficult for the Israelites to accept. Because there is no direct connection between going around a castle and conquering it. However, God wanted to take away the remnants of disobedience in Israel by having them go around Jericho. It seemed unreasonable, and it was difficult to obey, but he expected them to obey, and God allowed them to occupy Jericho through this method. While working around Jericho, they had to obey God in order to be conquered first. Obedience is the path to blessing. The reason there are no blessings in our lives is because of our disobedience. If you obey completely, God's work will be accomplished.
Third, Joshua's method of faith was silence.
In verse 10, Joshua said, “Do not utter a war cry, do not raise your voice, and do not speak a word until the day Joshua speaks. Why did you order silence like this? It was because it would be impossible for so many people to go around Jericho if they had a voice. If a lot of people raised their voices, they would have listed the voices of complaints, resentment, and reasons for not being able to turn. Joshua kept quiet and focused on God. When we complain and grumble, God's work is not accomplished. We have no choice but to miss God's timing by making our own voices and talking about ourselves. When we are silent, we can discern God's will and hear God's voice, so Joshua ordered silence. Instead of looking at Jericho in your life with an impatient heart, be all of you who experience God's presence while expecting God's work in faith.
