Taming the Tongue about 3:1-12
Even if we persevere in a big event or accident and handle it beautifully, it is our life that can be destroyed by the words of friends and family around us.
You can find such examples in the Bible as well.
Moses, who had received the best education in the Egyptian royal family for 40 years, saw a man harassing a Jew and killed him.
So is Elijah. Elijah, who killed all 800 prophets of Baal and Asherah on Mount Carmel, also fled into the wilderness at the venom of a woman named Jezebel.
Even if you do not go to the Bible, there is not a single person in your life who has not been hurt by words.
Conversely, there are many cases in which a person who despaired because of the words of encouragement regains hope, and the words of love become a moist, fertile field in the heart like a deserted desert.
All of this is governed by the savage tongue.
(1) My brethren, do not be many teachers, knowing that we who are teachers will receive a greater judgment.
The teacher here is talking about a rabbi, a pastor or evangelist in our way.
A pastor is a very talkative profession. It is to be used to save souls with the mouth God has given. However, it seems that there have often been cases where this was not the case then or now.
It's a little different from the Bible, but... .Not only the pastor, but also other professions in the world must have a sense of mission.
If a president or a member of the National Assembly rises to a position with the goal of his own material or power without a heart for the country and its people, the country will face considerable difficulties. The same goes for elementary school and kindergarten teachers. If you do not have the slightest love for children and go on satisfying other conditions, the life entrusted to them will be severely damaged.
The same goes for your workplace. The idea of just giving money so that we can work as much as we do is not making any progress, making it difficult for you and for the company as well.
Please have a sense of mission and do your best on the spot.
(Verse 2) We all make many mistakes, so if there is no mistake in what we say, then he is a perfect man and is able to bridle his whole body.
Who is a perfect person? A person who does not make mistakes in his words.
Being whole doesn't mean 'innocence'. It refers to ‘maturity’ or ‘faithfulness’ in the Christian life.
To bridle is equivalent to bridging in verse 3.
(Verse 3) To make the horse obey, we put a bridle in its mouth, and roam all the body;
To make a horse obey, you must first gag your mouth.
In this way, we too have to take care of our own tongue first.
Please be silent when my heart tries to protrude more than God's.
To be silent does not mean to be dumb. You can speak, but you don't.
When I do not speak and remain silent, I hear the voice of God.
When I pray to God without expressing my feelings, the Holy Spirit is with me.
(Verse 4) Also, look at the boat, it drives things that are so great and that are driven by the wind according to the will of the least of the crew.あのように 大kina thing が, 强i wind ni 押 てているときでも, ごku small あじじによって, and
No matter how large a ship, a single key in the hands of the sailor moves the ship.
No matter how shiny it looks, the value and price of the ship is determined by the condition and capacity of the key you hold in your hand.
So are we. No matter how handsome or glamorous the person is, the language that comes out of the tongue reveals the person's character and character.
When a boat is floating in a strong wind, if you can control the rudder well, you can sail through the waves at a faster speed.
So are we. In a nutshell, it is said that the debt is repaid. In a word, life is either easy or difficult.
(Verse 5) Likewise, the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. See how a small fire burns many trees.
(Verse 6) The tongue is fire and the world of fire. The tongue defiles the whole body among our members and sets the wheel of life on fire, and its devouring comes from the fire of hell.舌 is 器官 's one desuが, the whole body 汚shi , life's 車輪を 燒ki, 恝shiてゲへna 's fire
One small spark can cause a forest fire. The tongue is like fire. The Japanese Bible says it is the world of injustice. It is expressed that this fire burns the wheel of life. This is a terrifying warning that if I mistreat the tongue, the whole of my life will be set on fire in Hell.
(7) All kinds of beasts, birds, worms, and sea creatures have been tamed by humans because they are tamed.
(8) No one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Verses 9 to 12 speak of the two sides of the tongue.
It is the tongue that God has given us. The tongue should glorify God and edify man.
(9) With this we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse those who are made in the image of God.
私Tachiha,舌をもって,the main person
(Verse 10) Out of the same mouth come forth praise and cursing, my brethren, this is not the case.
Whether we believe in Jesus or not, we are all the work of God. No one was born on my own. They just don't remember what God has done. But criticizing and even cursing God's work will not please God.
If you come to church on a Sunday and say, “Praise God,” and complain, complain, and grumble, and keep talking negatively about the world, it is not appropriate.
(11) How can a fountain bring forth sweet and bitter waters from one hole?
(12) My brethren, how can the fig tree bear the fruit of the olive tree, and the vine bear the fig tree? In the same way, salty water does not produce sweet water.
Suko and kinaiko and desu.
Just as a fig tree cannot be opened from a vine, so can no evil or negative words come out of our Christian's mouth.
If the chapel is a temple that preaches the word during the day, but it is a place where strange obscene business is conducted at night, this would not be appropriate. So is our tongue.
We Christians became one family through baptism. Families are more aware of each other's shortcomings. However, they do not reveal each other's shortcomings. Rather, it is hidden.
Please don't judge others. Please do not complain. If you curse and get annoyed, the person who hears it is more likely to suffer and die than the person who does it. Do you know how stressful it can be to be with negative people?
The pastor told me to be quiet, so from now on, I will do nothing and be still... I'll put it together in case some of you think so.
James is not telling us to keep our mouths shut and be still.
It means to put a gag in your mouth. Gagging a horse's mouth does not stop the horse from running.
When you muzzle it, the bridle will tell you which direction you want it to go and you will be able to run straight.
Please gag your mouth. Therefore, I bless you in the name of Jesus that the wonderful wisdom of knowing and realizing the direction the Lord wants you to come will come.
Let's try it.
“I will only speak the words of life that the Lord has given me.”
